The National Socialist German Workers' Party, as the Nazi
Party was formally named, was founded as the German Workers'
Party in Munich. Adolf Hitler becomes its seventh member in

In a major operation in the Lvov ghetto, German forces kill
ten thousand Jews and deport thousands of others.
Thereafter, the ghetto becomes a Judenarbeitslager, or
Jewish forced-labor camp, and the Judenrat, or Jewish
