The Qumran Community had an Essene nucleus that morphed into the Ascetic Coalition
Since the beginning of research it has been apparent that the Qumran Community had an Essene nucleus. There had been an integration of some Essenes with ascetics coming from the Sadducees and Pharisees, who adapted their calendar and practices to those of the Essenes, leading to a movement that developed... more »

Invitation to the reader to compare Magness/Thiering dating of Qumran sectarian origin
Hint - the discrepancy is about a century, no matter the distinction between Essenes and proto-Essenes at Qumran. Was Qumran an Essene monastery? Answer - Yes. I invite the reader to research the information here or ask me politely for it. Peace, David Christainsen Newton, Mass. USA

Pithy commentary on Thiering Thesis/Pesher
Please back up; it all starts with her dating scheme for composition of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Then again, she does the same for the 4 NT gospels. Critics of Dr. Thiering need to test the validity of her dating schemes. BTW I assure the reader that it will be extremely hard, if not impossible, to break her logic.... more »

For the honor of scholarship the Thiering Thesis/Pesher should be investigated to be confirmed or rejected
...I say the entire matter should be revisited by qualified experts. I am totally dissatisfied with all attempts by scholars to review Dr. Thiering's scholarly work for the past quarter century. Dr. Thiering herself had a notice on her official website inviting other scholars to examine her evidence but it has been taken down -... more »
