Bunting Miles 1854 - 1892
wife Lucy Miles 1858?-?
son Walter Miles 1876?
son William Miles 1879?
Thank you to Colin (CWatters) for his help in finding Bunting Miles in the
1880 census. I have been in contact with the city historian in Norfolk who
gave me a list of local cemeteries that were possibilities for Mr. Miles
original grave site.
I think we figured out which one it is (they have been there since 1866 but
don't have records back that far and the "old cemetery" is off limits to the
public). I can't imagine I will get very far when I tell them his tombstone
ended up in fill dirt. So I am going to try to track down his family.
TIA,
Dawn

Have you ever considered contacting the Virginia Pilot? It's the Norfolk
newspaper and they might consider it a very human interest story. They may
be able to give you some information on the cemetery and even look up Miles
and maybe some living family.
I forgot if you mentioned--where is this tombstone currently located?

The tombstone didn't travel far, it is still in Eastern Virginia.
Thanks,

Cool. Keep us posted, please! While it might be considered by some to be
off-topic, it's a continuation of a family history, and thus, right on,
AFAIC.
I grew up in Hampton Roads and keep up with the news there.

Yes please. Love to hear how this works out.
