I wondered if any listmembers have ever encountered the name "Painter" while researching in Jamaica prior to 1810 or so. Searches in Jamaica Family Research and other sources have yielded nothing, although I have seen the name once or twice on later maps relating to several plantations in the general vicinity of Port Antonio.
I'm trying to determine if the family has ties to Connecticut and may have been a merchanting family which acquired interests in eastern Jamaica as a consequence of their accounts in Ja.
