I too am researching Yorkshire and I was amazed to find that there is
the complete text of a c1825 Gazeteer on line at:

It is divided by riding, so you might have to look in three places.
You can also get there by following the links to Yorkshire from the
English Genealogy page of Genuki.

I'm trying to find a town called "Oberney" in Yorkshire. I think that
it was spelled phonetically. What would be a good gazetteer for
