Subject: Allan Cameron of Callart, SCT 1765-?
I am looking for any information on Allan (Allen) Cameron of Callart, son of James
Cameron and Mary Cameron, who was a Factor to Lord MacDonald of Sleat at Lochmaddy,
North Uist in early 1800's.

The book "The Camerons, A History of Clan Cameron" gives the following for Allan:
b.1765, Capt Lochaber Fencibles, Factor to Lord MacDonald of Sleat, m. 1799 Mary
Anne, dau of Duncan Roy Campbell of Barcaldine, children: Ewen b.1806, Alexander
Wentworth b.1808, John b.1817.

The IGI has Allen Cameron m. Mary Campbell, children: James b. 8 Feb 1801 Lifford,
Donegal, Ireland; Ewwn Alexander b.28 Jan 1806 Lochmaddy, Scotland; Louisa b 7 Sep
1807 Lochmaddy; Allen b. abt 1809 Lochmaddy; and John b 7 Oct 1817 Lochmaddy.

I have a letter written 31 Mar 1812 by my ggggdfather George Campbell addressed to
Allan Cameron, Loch Maddy, North Uist.  On one side is a note addressed "Dear Sir"
and on the other side is a note addressed to his wife "My Dear Ann".  The letter
strongly suggests that Allan Cameron is the father of Ann.  The wording also
suggests that Allan's current wife may not be Ann's mother.

George Campbell and Ann Cameron were married in Glasgow in 1802 and emigrated to
PEI, Canada about 1814-1816.  Family tradition is that Ann's father was an Allan
Cameron, a factor to Lord MacDonald at his estates in Lochmaddy.

Does anyone have any information concerning this family?  Would appreciate any help
or suggestions.
