Looking for James HILL b. 17 Sep 1822 Edinburgh, Scotland.  He married on 12
July 1846 in Stirling, Falkirk, Scotland to Agnes BLAIR MITCHELL.  He died
15 Nov. 1870 Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co, WI.  He is buried at Watertown, Dodge
Co, WI.  James and Agnes adopted my Great-Grandmother when she was about 4
or 5 years old.  Contraversy about Mary Agnes, the adopted daughter.  Date
of Mary Agnes' birth is supposedly 18 Sept 1870/72 in Milwaukee, WI.  Her
brother, Hugh BOWIE, lived with the HILL's for several years but they didn't
adopt him.  Mary Agnes' date of birth is probably wrong as she never told
anyone her correct age, not even her children.  My Great-Aunt told me that
she loved her adopted father and he was a very kind and loving man.  Since
he died in 1870, she had to have known him for some time.  Would like to
find out about Hugh BOWIE.  What ever became of him?  What happened to Mary
Agnes' original family?  From family recollections, the HILL's traveled back
and forth many times from Edinburgh to Wisconsin.
Also would like to know more about James HILL's family in Scotland and Agnes
BLAIR MITCHELL's family.  Is BLAIR a family surname?  Could it have been her
mother's maiden name?
