My father, Clayton ADAMS, said his family was German so I am posting
this message here to see if anyone has a German ADAMS that could be my
family.

I have traced my ADAMS line back to my ggg-grandfather who was William
ADAMS. He married Elizabeth ROUSH or SELLERS and they had a son
Alexander ADAMS who was born in 1840 in Cumberland Co, Pennsylvania,
USA. Alexander was in Ohio by 1861 when he married Keziah NEFF. Alex's
obit said he was the last of fourteen children.

I haven't been able to find anything else about this William ADAMS in
Pennsylvania, where he came from, when he came to Pennsylvania, his
parents, siblings, other children, etc.

If this is a German ADAMS, what would the name of ADAMS be in German
besides ADAM without the S? Are there other spellings, additions on the
end or the beginning of the name?
