Description: Genealogical methods and resources. (Moderated)

New MINNESOTA research note for July
The Fourth of July holiday caused me to think about the naturalization process and finding records for the early immigrants to the state. This note provides information about some sources that are NOT included in the free on-line index through the Iron Range Research Center [link]... more »

Microsoft One Note + Genealogical Research
I'd be interested to know if anyone has found One Note to be useful for tracking genealogical research. If so, please describe how you use it, what works, what doesn't, templates, etc. Kathleen Craine Chicago "Kathleen Craine" <kacra...@aol.com>

Fw: Mother in laws
Apparently this didn't make it to the list so I'm forwarding it, in hopes this time it will. Laurie Nelson - ------------------------------ -------------------- ...Sent: Thursday, June 25, 2009 8:16 PM To: "GenMethods List" <GEN...@rootsweb.com> ..."Laurie Nelson" <lanenels...@msn.com>

GedCom standards
I wish to be able to clearly and succinctly identify the sources, and logic used to establish a parent child relationship. This is not usually as simple as citing an individual source, but for me often requires establishing a "network" of interlocking bits of evidence. This does not seem to be supported in many Genealogy programs, and... more »

Maiden name/another situation
...HI: I have been sort of following this discussion and decided to write a response when I read this contribution. Not all women had maiden names. My ancestors were free African Americans (who had surnames) and others were slaves. I am getting to the point where I will be discovering slave ancestors who had no (recorded) surname. I have... more »

Mother in laws
I have several situations where a person listed as a mother in law is living with her son. i.e. Jim Jones B 1803; Mary Jones B:1780 mother-in-law. Since her maiden name probably is not Jones, What name do you enter as the name of her husband? Keith Nuttle <keith_nut...@sbcglobal.net>

Prison records
...? Michael Reich <mareic...@yahoo.com> I wouldn't even mind paying if there was a link to tell you the years available. 250 million records doesn't tell me much of anything. Are we missing the link to the freeby things? Shirley Grand Bay, AL 36541 Shirley <squirrel...@yahoo.com>
