Indiana Records (Probably others)
|
| |
My family is principally from northern eastern Indiana, and I have been
looking for data for over 10 years. I have consistently been told that most
counties began keep records for marriages and deaths in the late 1800 and
early 1900.
Now I see that family search has county marriage records that go back to 1811.... more »

Situation:
My cousin who has been researching our family for years, says that his mother
had a document in German which she thought was John George Hindelong's
discharge papers from the German Army (Which army is unknown)
At some time in the last forty years I have been told that document which was... more »

1. Swedish GNIS? (singhals); 2. Another hypothetical (singhals)
|

...
...
You have put the place name into your browser to see if Wiki has anything?
...
...
...
I would. If you have privacy concerns for the earliest informant, you should
be able to exclude the contributors personal data from public displays, but
for my own information, I'd want to know the history of who and where I got... more »

Another hypothetical
|
| |
Over a period of time back around 1990, a third cousin responded to a query I
had posted by sending me a spreadsheet grid of a cemetery in which our mutual
ancestral relatives were buried. This is cited in my sources as
"[hisname][date] Private Communication".
He has now posted the same info at Find-a-Grave. The F-A-G info includes... more »

Swedish GNIS?
|
| |
Is there a Swedish version of the GNIS?
I've got a word in the place-field and I have NO way of telling whether it's a
parish (or several parishes) or a town.
I went over to the Swedish GenWeb but even their beginner section was a bit
advanced since it seemed to assume that the reader knew that much at least.... more »

Migration patterns
|
| |
I've spent six months looking, and so here I am asking if anyone here has EVER
seen this migration pattern.
IS there a migration path between central Pennsylvania and Shelby county KY?
I'm not seeing one on any of the maps or articles I've consulted, and none of
my consultants have either. OTOH, none of us actually research that far west,... more »

Funeral expenses
|
| |
...
Very interesting! When you apply a calculation for inflation (I like to use
[link] ) from the 1929 rate to 1996 you see the
funeral home in 96 was making a hefty markup above inflation - $2062.89 would
be the inflation adjusted amount for that 1929 funeral in 1996!... more »

Funeral Expenses
|
| |
I happened across something that I thought perhaps /might/ be marginally
useful to someone sometime, someplace.
I'm happy to use it as a starting point; you may not be, but if so I don't
actually need to know that. (g) All the pitfalls of using it are hereby
stipulated.
The same funeral home, in the same town, and for the same family charged... more »
