How can this be done?
Thanks,

Many genealogy programs allow you to select a portion of your database
and do operations - like GEDCOM export - on only the selected portion.
What program(s) do you use?

In Legacy, that's one of the choices you have when creatinga GEDCOM:
startperson, number of generations, whether to include spouses, tc.
John
I assume that you only want to send a specific branch of your
overall tree. You could try saving just that branch, and then
converting it to a GEDCOM.
It depends on what program you are using.

Which program are you using? The basic technique is similar but the
details may prove important to you...
The following is for sending a specific couple and they children.
Amend/Adapt to fit other scenarios.
In PAF (4 or 5), find the couple you wish to include. Confirm that
this couple and their children are no longer living (privacy
concerns). With either the husband or wife highlighted on screen,
goto FILE/EXPORT/partial / select a box will pop up asking how many
generations. Tell it 2 (couple and children); it'll ask if you want
to include spouses, and obviously you do, so YES. Select the
generic GEDCOM (near the bottom of the list of buttons), and click
EXPORT again. Give it a name ("export4" say) and "OK". Be sure you
know where you put it!
Create your e-mail, attach the "export4.ged" file, and send.
Any of the 6 or 7 genie prorams I've tried that do GEDCOM allow you
to limit the number of generations exported -- finding the box where
you do that is an interesting experience sometimes, though.
Good luck.

Lorna,
What software/website are you using. It should be really easy. If
you tell me what you are using I will send you the instructions you
need :)

Not really a function of RootsWeb.
What Genealogy program are you using?
Usually it's an option when you are outputting a GEDCOM from your
genealogy program.

I use Family Tree Maker 7.
For FTM 16 under the file menu select "Export" then "Selected
Individuals"

First, to paraphrase Mrs. Beeton, Select your Individuals.
Then, in the name of the Almighty, /REMEMBER/ to change the target
from the default of FTM ! Change it to read GEDCOM.
