How to further search for family connections, if any?

January 1813, Samuel FOWLER of Culwell (sic) County, KY; Thomas
FRAZIER (location unknown); and William WEST (Bladen County, NC)
sold three plots of Sampson County, NC, land to Hugh LOCKERMAN of
Sampson County, NC. Sherwood SIMMONS (Sampson County, NC) and Daniel
MELVIN (Bladen County, NC) were witnesses to the transaction.

Efforts to backtrack source of land ownership by FOWLER, FRAZIER and
WEST have been unsuccessful.

What records do we search to determine how/when the three men named
above became owners of the three tracts of land in Sampson County,
NC? Sampson County ROD has placed its records online but we have
found no purchase of the specified tracts by either of the three men
named above. We just learned the Duplin (parent county of Sampson)
ROD has its records online and plan to search there this weekend.

What other searches might we try?
