Steve Morse's Searching the Passenger Lists in One Step makes
finding people much easier.
However when searching the Castle Garden records many strange things
happen.

I was trying to find a Leo Oppenheimer who arrive in NY around 1868
from Bremen. i entered given contains leo and surname starts with
oppenh and was taken to the CG web site. Although i had stared with
year 1865 - 1870, the CG site changes the dates to 1830 - 1912.

I then wanted to find if any other family members came with him on
that ship. So I deleted the Leo* and tried to select the a ship
BREMEN, However the ship name was not in the listing. When I
changed the dates on CG to 1865 - 1870, the BREMEN as included.

Also in the person's listing was a destination code, 7328. Where
can I find a list of these codes with actual places?

I've noticed for months that CG has some very, oh let's call 'em
individualistic, ways of doing things.

Still, you lost me, in para 3 above. Was your problem at CG or at
Morse? And are you looking for someone _from_ Bremen or for someone
on-board a ship named Bremen?

At one time I found an archived message in which Steve Morse reports
that he had been told:

7328: USA
2880: Canada
3455: Bermuda
7778: New York

I'm also insterested in codes 7788 and 4810 and likely will come
across others in the future. So, a nice list of these codes would
be great.

Best,
Chuck

Problem was with CG and on the Ship BREMEN not from Bremen

I started years ago to write ship name in all caps and I have seen
many others do the same. Reduces confusion.

Oh. I'm more used to caps being the SURNAME, and it looked to me
that the use of Bremen vs BREMEN was accidental.

Sorry.
