I wish that on-line genealogical indexes could find a way to
distinguish between "incidental" hits and "real" hits. (g)
It's exciting to find a new index and to get 12,347 hits. At least,
it's exciting until you start plodding through those and find at the
end that 10,032 of them were of the en passant variety, inserted to
make the writer look educated. Of the other 2315, hits, 2289 of
which are a family name only (as in, "he married a [surname]."
Interesting but only if you knew a [surname] married a person of
THAT surname.) Leaving me with *26* real hits. I can live with the
fact that 15 of 'em quote one another, but MAN it should've been
easier to get there.
I can be patient and persistent, but deliberately whacking myself in
the head has fallen a fair ways down my to-do list. (g)
