Hi, Betti-

Genetic testing for medical purposes is a whole different issue than
being tested for genealogical purposes. The Y-DNA and mtDNA testing
being done by the genealogy companies doesn't test for the medical
issues or report that type of results to you. Companies like
23andme.com and a few others DO test for these issues but also in
testing all 23 chromosomes and they give you genealogical
information as well.

As for having a sample or surname study to compare with...more and
more people are being tested every day, and while YOU may be the
first in your family line -- others will surely follow and then
connect with you. SOMEONE has to be the first.
