The surnsme is spelled Mansell by CP, Mansel, Mansell, or Maunsell by
CB, and Maunsell by Burke's Irish Family Records (BIFR) which seems to
have the most complete pedigree of the family.

Sir Philip Mansell fought at the battle of Mortimer's Cross in 1461
and was beheaded after the battle of Tewkesbury in 1471. The wife of
his son Jenkin is usually called Edith Kene or Keen, not Kyme, whose
father Sir George and grandfather William were of Well hall, Eltham,
Kent. The use of the name Kyme by some sources is an attempt to
connect her to the Kyme family of Lincolnshire - or, more wildly, to a
certain Thomas Kyme who was the 2nd husband of Cecily, daughter of
King Edward IV, and of whom CP says "nothing more is known" beyond his
marriage to Cecily.
There is a connection to the royal family here, however, because Sir
George Kene's sister Margaret (or bridget, depending on the source)
mar. William Trussell of Kibblestone and is an ancestor of Prince
Charles.

The second son of Rhys, Edward was "age 28" in his father's 1559 IPM and married Jane daughter of Henry Somerset, 2nd Earl Worcester. This Jane died 16 Oct 1597 "aet 67".

According to BIFR the eldest son Philip was a son of the 2nd wife, not
the 3rd wife. BIFR also gives details on the parentage of all three
wives.
