John Dever, b. 1731, d.1782, was a Bricklayer in Baltimore County, Maryland.
He is credited with making and laying 124,938 bricks and making 18 m Brick, a
total of 142,938 bricks made and laid in the main or center section of the
famous great Georgian house at Tulip Hill (formerly known as Poplar Knoll), in
1756 for Samuel Galloway and his wife Anne Chew Galloway.  John Dever was
well-known for his brick laying skills in Baltimore County and is credited with
the masonry on several homes in the vicinity.
        John Dever married twice.  1st Ann Bond, 2nd Rebecca (Robinson) Talbott.
His ancestors and descendants are given in our book THE DEVER AND RELATED

here, and there are more in the book.  Ann Bond's father was a stone mason.
The date and place of the baptism of John and Ann (Bond) Dever was recorded and
is given in our book.  He, along with others, took an important part in the
addition of several more acres to Baltimore Town in Baltimore County.  The
names and locations of his parcels of land are given in our book.  And other
things are also given.
