Re. Vilna Gaon

I have seen quite a bit of mail about those related to the Vilna Gaon and
have heard that at it's height, Vilna had over a hundred synagogues. I have
been told that my ggfather Rabbi Abraham Gallob was a Vilnius rabbi, but so
farI have found no record of him, perhaps he was only a minor rabbi who
didn't make waves, didn't get mentioned but surely there must be some
record of him soewhere. I know there is a book called Ha'rabbonim, he
doesn't show up there. I have used soundex to search for variations on the
name and know that the name in russian means pigeon but now I have reached
a dead end, what can I do next?
