There were four brothers in the former Russia with surname
GARBER (they had no sisters, as I know). Their father's first
name was Ruvim in Russian spelling and Reuben or Rube or
Rubin in English spelling.
Two of them (textile workers?), I may suppose, the oldest,
went to Canada (through USA?) about 1905-1910 from
the Ukraine region and lived there with their large families
(my father told me about corresponding family photo).
I may suppose that among their children was Reuben or Rube
or Rubin Garber named in honour of his grandfather as I was
named in honour of my grandfather, Elias Ruvimovich Garber.
This person was probably born in 1910-1925 in Canada.
My grandfather Elias (or Elijah in English spelling)
Ruvimovich Garber was born in 1893, that's why I think that
his Canadien brothers were older. He lived until 1914 in
Belovezskaya Puscha (now, Belarus). He was a soldier in the
World War I at the Turkish front, and then, after 1917,
lived in Rostov-on-Don city. My father Eugene (his only
child) was born there in 1923. My grandfather had
correspondence with Canadien brothers until WWII. They
sent him letters, presents, parcels etc. My grandfather was
killed in 1941 fighting against nazists.
The last, fourth brother, Semen (?) lived before the World
War II in Sumy, now Ukraine. From the words of my father I
know that he had a daughter approximately of his age, may
be slightly older.
I ask you to help me in my search of the relatives, the
children of my predecessors. It is very important for me
to restore broken connections.
Let me shortly introduce myself. I, Elias Garber, was born in
1950 near Murmansk, Russia, married, Ph. D. in Psychology.
I would appreciate any help or advice directing me how to
solve my problem and contact with the relatives.
With best wishes,
Elias
