Transcribed from the 31 December 1822 edition of The Strabane Morning
Post newspaper:
Enniskillen, December 26.--Christmas Bounty.--A fine carcase of beef
was yesterday distributed among a number of indigent roomkeepers, in the
proportion of from six to eight pounds, with the addition of a sixpenny
loaf, to each. For this seasonable relief the poor are indebted to Mr.
Alex. Hudson, who benevolently appropriated, to this truly Christian
purpose, the savings arising from an improved agricultural arrangement
in our butter market, and which savings, nevertheless, were truly Mr.
Hudson's emolument as weighmaster.
