My father`s grandfather was married to a Christina Timmerman, who is
supposed to have been born in Berlin (in 1857). According to the 1920
census, she was from Essen, so I guess she must have moved around in
Germany. According to the 1900 census, they had been married for 21
years, so they must have gotten married in 1878 or 1879. Does anyone
know if there are any German websites on the internet which can be
searched for people`s names, and their dates of birth and marriage? If
there isn`t such a website, how would a person get access to this
information? Thank you.

Read 'Frequently Asked Questions FAQ' published monthly in
soc.genealogy.german by Jim Eggert
also to be found at
http://www.genealogy.net/faqs/sgg.html
and you can find the name of her father reading
http://adressbuch.zlb.de/
which can give you the street address of her family if there are not
too many families with this surname.

Dear Henning; Thank you for your response. I tried the Berlin link you
gave, but I wasn`t able to get very far because I don`t know German.
Sincerely, Bill.
