RE Meindert Ubbenga

This is my great-great-great-grandpa. He was born on or about October
13, 1843. He married Lena Behrends who was born on December 23, 1853.
When they move to the US they settled in Hartsburg, IL which is in
Logan County. The town nearest to Hartsburg is Emden, IL. I find it
ironic that there is an Emden, Germany and that they lived by Emden,
IL. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

And are you looking for information on the person before he came to the US
or afterwards?

But there were in 2001
394 Ubben and
14 Ebbenga
in the German phone directory.

Current Internet directory just shows 10 listings of Ebbenga. And two of
those Ebbenga are in Emden in Ostfriesland. Two more are nearby (10 km away)
in Krummhoern.
