Subject: And = John?
-- [ From: Sherry Osburn * EMC.Ver #2.10P ] --

I have just recently found out that I have a Krugg line.  Catherine
Krugg married Charles Hames and in the possession of one of
the members of the Hames family is a leather book that belonged
to Catherine's father. " This book was printed in the year 1730 at
Karlsruhe, Germany and belonged to And (john) Krugg.  It is a catalog
of all the strange/foreign plants and herbs which are found in the
royal
greenhouse in Karlsruhe.  In the back the notation was made that
'we left [moved away] from Regensburg 22 June 1739' .  On one of
the blank pages appears Sturdivant, N.Y." (Hames Heritage)

My question is this, is And the German version of John?  I thought
it was Johann.  I found in a book at the library on Ship's Passenger
List a "Andreas Krug, Philadelphia, PA 1739"  Dec. 11 1739, Palatines,
imported in the ship Lydia, James Allen, Commander, from London,
75 passengers.  Can this be my John Krugg?

The German IGI gives John Krugg b. abt 1710; wife Mary b. abt 1712,
married abt 1735.

Thanks!
