In the "Social Security Index US" thread, someone posted a response in
which they appeared to be quoting from an article that had details about
the will of the wife of an ancestor that the original poster was trying
to find information about. I have an ancestor whose wife appears to have
had a will (she died in 1929), and I`m interested in finding out the
details of her will. Does anyone have any ideas of how I could do this?
Thank you.

Post name, date of death and town; then add <alt.genealogy>.

I suspect you misunderstood a bit. He was suggesting that you crossposted
your followup to *two* newsgroups:

soc.genealogy.german and
alt.genealogy

Not that you were to add the literal text <alt.genealogy> to your text :-)

Bill is looking for info on the will of the above person ( I believe born
Christina Timmerman) with date of death and location of town mentioned.

Just for the record -- the location mentioned in the SSDI is the
address where the last benefit was sent, not necessarily the place of
death nor even the place of residence. In the case of a family member
who died recently, the benefit was sent to her bank's electronic HQ
which was in a different state from where she lived and died.

However, it's better than nothing, and you (or Bill) should go to the
USGenWeb site for that county to see what the Courthouse's address is.
Then you write the letter or make the phone call to see if there is any
sort of estate or death settlement.

Her maiden name won't be needed and it's really unlikely that her Will
will contain it unless she specifically mentions "My brother Tommy
Timmerman" or "my brother Tommy's son Ted Timmerman".
