Hi all,

If any one can read this, please let me know as I have not received any
posts since 3 Feb.
I have been going to the archives to read messages and there has not been
many of them either.

Thanks,

Hi Di
The Oz groups have been quiet all weekend not just this one.

Just found 6 for this group on my overseas connection that are not here, all
with todays date. Maybe Juliar is censoring us or the dead no longer speak
to us.

I just checked with my american based paid service and there are posts that
do not appear on my TPG feed. Could be something happened but no one
noticed...

I will give TPG a call tomorrow and ask what has happened - this happened
before and I had to *argue* with them that they did have newsgroups.
Must be a new worker at the call centre who doesn't know anything about
newsgroups. It has happened.

Thanks for your posts.

TPG seems to have regained it's connection to the outside world, as posts
are now coming thru. But not the ones that were posted on the w/e.

Yay, I can see the posts again and I didn't even have to ring TPG, as SG1
posted, they got their act together.

Thanks Keith, I am getting the posts now but not all of them at the same
time.
This morning I received most of the replies to the original posts, then a
little while later, the original post downloads. Weird.

As long as I get the posts, I don't care what order they come in.
I can't do without my daily lurk.

Di just after I read your post about having a go at TPG it all came good.
The power of a forcefull voice, maybe? Yes we all need a good dose of
lurking.

I'm having trouble reaching US Google today; I got signed in once but
couldn't open my calendar. Several other tries failed.

Yesterday and today I wasn't been able to reach US Yahoo's financial
information from my home accounting program though I did reach Yahoo
directly this morning.

I think I had heard they were expecting large sun-spot storms about
now, so that could be involved.

Usage in sgb/sgc seems unusually light, but I'm able to download and
post pretty much as usual.

I've heard that posts from GoogleGroups are not being propagated to
other newsservers.

A post on another group complained that a glitch was making Google Groups
only distribute messages within GG - maybe the glitch was more widespread
than realised? The connections between the assorted news distributers can
boggle the mind!

Let's hope not. After all they're the long term archive. OTOH let's
hope they stop allowing posting so they revert to being the Deja News of
old.

If it is happening on two lists, it must be more than just you or your
location.

Lesley mentioned Google Groups. If you are subscribing to the Rootsweb
mailing list, that shouldn't affect you. Google Groups doesn't own Usenet.
I use an overseas newsgroup list. My ISP doesn't have an NNTP server, and
Telstra's was just too unreliable. As soon as everybody left the office for
the weekend, the posts stopped until Monday! I have told my newsreader to
block anything posted from Google Groups, to reduce spam. That will block
some on this list.

I have been seeing a few posts on GENANZ, probably the ones you saw in the
archives. On the GB list, I have been seeing more.

RootsWeb is now part of Ancestry.com. The Ancestry.com main site is slow,
and frequently just freezes up. Although for a while, Ancestry.com seemed to
have improved out of sight, the Ryerson Index's troubles with RootsWeb
started at about the time of the takeover. We have now moved to our own
server.

HTH,

Doug.

Your post went to "soc.genealogy.australia+nz, soc.genealogy.britain,
soc.genealogy.computing" - so reference to "this list" is somewhat
confusing ... (I know you set followups to only one of them).
