Is there a way to print out the index in Legacy? I have a feeling
there isn't but I might be missing something.

I don't mean the index that comes with a report. I mean the content
under the Index tab in Legacy. I can use screen shots to print out
the whole thing but that's slow and time consuming and not very
pretty, albeit colourful!

No, but there is a free program called GEDxlate from
http://www.gedmagic.com ( http://www.gedmagic.com/GEDxlate.htm ). It
will take your GEDcom exported from Legacy and out put it as an Excel
file, MS Access File, a CSV file or a plain text file. The Excel file
can be formatted to appear the same as the Legacy index (with a lot more
information) or re-arraigned however you desire. As stated it is free
and very easy to use.

Have you looked at Name List. You can print the whole index from here.
Click on the Print button and when dialogue box opens you can select the
fields you want to include. Simple, but is this what you want?

Legacy Help claims:

Printing the List

You can print the contents of the Index View by going to the Name List
and choosing the Print option.

Don't you mean irresponsible?

ISTR someone mentioning here that a Legacy database was actually an
Access database with a different filename suffix - or was that another
genie package?. In which case another alternative would be to open a
/copy/ of the database with Access or Ability Database although this
might take a bit of poking around to find the appropriate table.

Yes, just copy it and rename it as an .mdb file or whatever it is. I've done
that.

Another possibility is export to Clooz, which is just a csv file, and import
into a spreadsheat or database.

No <G> They're actually both quite responsible youngsters, it's just
that one's autistic so only his world exists most of the time. The
other is the kind of blonde who gives all blondes a bad name and she's
made scatty an art form! :D

Thanks :))

I got it sorted out in the end and now have two versions, one by
surname and one by given name.
