Subject: Another brick wall!
John Wall. miller of Thatcham, Newbury married Elizabeth Bannin about
1773 but I haven't been able to find where.

Date of marriage is deduced from the fact that their eldest son, Thomas
was born out of wedlock[1] in February 1772 and the next child, Ann, was
born legitimately in May 1774.  There were two further children, William
and Edward, the latter is my 3g-grandfather.

A John Wall leased Chamberhouse Mill, Thatcham in 1758, this may have
been Elizabeth Bannin's partner or, more likely his father.

In the church records there are two deaths for John Wall in Thatcham,
one in 1770 the other in 1780.

I can't find where the Walls originally came from but Bannin is a local
name.

Anyone any ideas?

[1] Described, rather primly, in the baptismal record as the "baseborn
son of EB, reputed father JW."
