Subject: LOOKING FOR ANDREWS FAMILY IN MARNHULL, DORSET
My ancestors, Robert and Elizabeth (nee Drew) Andrews left Marnhull, Dorset
in 1853 and travelled to Australia.   Elizabeth died in childbirth a
fortnight before landing in Port Phillip which is now Melbourne.   Robert
was subsequently left with six children to raise including a 2 week old
infant, also Elizabeth.
I would be interested to hear from distant relatives who may still be in or
around Marnhull.
The Andrews family were yeomen farmers featuring quite prominently in the
history of Marnhull written for the Festival of Britain in the 1950's.   The
book was published in Gillingham and is now out of print.   I managed to
obtain a copy when I was in England in 1986.
Robert was not the eldest son, so I presume, he would have come to Australia
either to seek gold or to make a new life for his family.   The farm would
have gone to another son.
Eager to make contact.
Betty Andrews.
