I could be wrong but I don't believe any Electoral Rolls are available on
the internet. You have to visit an electoral office to access them. It may
be slightly different for each state. They have really cracked down on
access because people were taking addresses and using them for junk mail.
Someone else might know differently.

If this is your first experience with a list, don't give up. Many other
lists exist out there where you don't have to worry about how abusive the
emails will be and 'everyone' is very helpful and encouraging. Search the
rootsweb pages for other lists in the area you are interested in or in a
particular surname. Most lists have a person who is a moderator and they
intervene in this kind of abusive carry on, but unfortunately, this list
does not have someone doing that so the perpetrators have free reign to say
what they like without censorship. Our family history research is a pursuit
to enjoy, not be abused over.
Farewell and best wishes to those who are seriously trying to research and
help people. I wish you well.

You DID reply! Nothing useful of course, but you did reply. Grow up
Ken!
>You just replied to his posting,
Did not reply if you notice.
Just trying to get you to ask a "sensible question"
VOTERS Rolls for what ???
I presume you refer to Electoral Rolls.
If so WHEN ??
Now let somebody help one who professes to be a DUMMY.
Not just the address.
so you did what you profess not to do.

Not dictating.
Just trying to get a sensible question.
what is correct or not

well if you say so !!
How can "anybody reply to such a stupid question,
think about it..
Your response is irrevalent.
At least you got that bit right.
State Library of Victoria would be keeper of historic
electoral rolls. Many larger libraries might have some
years
> Can they be accessed via the internet?
Not as far as I know for VIC. There is a web site for NSW
records that includes some electoral rolls but there is an
access fee www.irh.com.au

Agreed, but at least I know that I have no right whatsoever (and would
also be downright stupid, knowing what I do about the danger of both
harvesters and criminals to use valid details) to tell people that
they must use a valid e-mail addy or a recognisable name.
Both bits Ken. Now either reply when asked a question or STFU rather
than whine about munged addys.
FARM,
I replied on Newsgoups regarding not supplying personal information
here.
I tried the e mail address with the requested information "which
bounced " naturally.
Do you now understand & butt out please.
If those who hit out at others whilst hiding behind munged email addresses
had the courage of their convictions, then banter such as the Voter Rolls
issue would have died out a while back.
On this forum we have to take the good with the bad, and deploy "message
rules" or "blocked Senders" to avoid seeing most of that which we don't want
to.

Reread what you replied to. I gave correct info. You (as usual) gave
a nonsensical response stating "at least you got that bit right" which
it now appears had nothing to do with anything that I wrote but what
seems to have been something happening in your strange head.
You started by replying to the first post from "Wolf" by stating: "I
will not reply to NO NAME & False e mail addresses.Rephrase your
question to a " specific time period" use a name & i may condescend to
reply."
That strange reply is nothing like your now revised statement to "not
supplying personal information here. I tried the e mail address with
the requested information "which bounced " naturally."
Your responses make less and less sense each time you post and your
responses don't seem to have any refernece back to what you wrote in
the previous post but appear to be plucked out of the ether with no
rhyme or reason.
But back to the issue you raised of replying. If a question appears
on the newsgroup OR in the Mailing List, then THAT is the forum to
which you respond. Now as you know that means that the reply will
appear on botht eh newsgroup and on the Milaing lsit because they are
gatewayed. You do NOT try to reply by using e-mail unless you
genuinely have identifiable information about a still living
individual or where the response will only be of interest solely to
the person asking the question. Neither of these circumstances apply
in this case so there is (and was) no need for you to try to reply to
an e-mail address (either real or munged).
I cannot see why you cannot understand simple netiquette and must
whine on about how others choose to post and whether they choose to
mung their addy or not. You are the only one who seems to see this as
being a perpetual problem and who seems so insistent on collecting as
many bounces as is possible.

You haven't got a clue what you are talking about. I use a munged
addy for 2 reasons.
1) I now no longer get any spam but before I began to mung my addy I
spend more time deleleting spam than I did reading, and
2) Someone, using a well know technique used by genealogists, gained
information about my family and tried to murder one of them. The
press clipping make great fodder to fill up the family history pages
but the reality is something QUITE different!
