Vivienne's Old Painting

From what I can make out - it would appear to be a photograph - however
I've encountered instances of photographs being over-painted - hard to tell
from the scan - but some elements of the picture suggest some form of
overpainting??

As for the date - looks to me a little later than 1840-50 - could be 60's
70's early 80's?? dress is a little suggestive of Queen Victoria mourning
outfit??

As for the country of origin - how about some clues - did the pic. belong
to a particular family member - where do you think it may have come from??

On the other hand - doesn't the pic. look a little like paintings from say
the 1820's 30's??

who knows

more research needed??
