Hi Di,
In Australia each state and territory maintains its own records. Some
states have a searchable index on line, but the periods covered vary
considerably.
New South Wales indexes can be searched free, with deaths to 1976,
couldn't see Roland there.
Victorian indexes can be searched for a small fee, I have a CD index to
1985, couldn't see him there.
Queensland has indexes which can be searched for free, but they end much
earlier, Western Australia also end much earlier.
Couldn't find him in the South Australian index on CD which covers
deaths to 1972.
Perhaps someone may recognize the name, or find him in a cemetery index,
or newspaper notice index like the Ryerson Index for NSW (couldn't find
him there).
