My earliest record of a Squire in this area is -(1)James SQUIRE married
Miriam NUTT at Compton-Dundon 22 nov 1789. Miriam was the second child of
Edward and Mary Nutt.
(2)Their son George (bapt. 3 mar 1793, Pitney )married Jane OSTLER on 15
oct 1815 at Somerton, Somerset. Jane was the daughter of John Ostler and
Mary Nutt.
(3)One of their sons John(bapt. 25 dec 1817, Pitney) married Mary Ann
BURROWS on the 01st Oct 1848 at the Parish Church, Pitney, Somerset. Mary
Ann was the daughter of Benjamin and Betsey Burrows John and Mary Ann
emigrated to New South Wales, Australia, with their 6 children - arriving
on the 18 Nov. 1854. They settled in the Armidale district of New South
Wales.
Brother of John - William SQUIRE married Edith WHEELER on 25 Dec 1850 at
Meare, Somerset. They and their family also came to Aust - to Queensland.
