* Vietnam's holocaust: Registry of deaths in re-education camps

(as of October 1, 1997)

This registry has been created so that the victims will not be forgotten,
the crimes committed against humanity will be remembered for generations to
come, and the mankind will learn from this human tragedy.

This registry includes only a tiny fraction of the tens of thousands of
political prisoners who have died in "re-education" camps after the
Communist takeover in 1975. This is an on-going project. Its objective is to
document the deaths of Vietnam's Holocaust to the fullest extent possible.

The Vietnamese Community of Washington, D.C., Maryland & Virginia would like
to acknowledge the contributions of the Association of Vietnamese Former
Political Prisoners, Honolulu Chapter; the Vietnam Helsinki Committee; and
the many former political prisoners who have resettled in the United States,
Canada, Australia, Europe, etc.
