For those of you who don't like to wait till Christmas Eve to
race through the stores for those last-minute gift ideas, you
might want to check out the bargains at the V&O (Tserkva
Sv. Volodymyr & Olhy) bazaar this weekend. Volunteers Romana
Jachtorowycz, Natalka Jachtorowycz, Larissa Iwanetz, Marusia
Webb and others have put together a dazzling display of
artfully hand-made merchandise for your purchasing pleasure.
Goodies include amazingly intricate embroidered pillows (with
amazingly fair to low prices), beautiful decorative baskets,
embroidered shirts (mostly men's), books, paintings, ceramics,
personalized Christmas tree decorations and more.
Where to go:
Church Hall of Sts. Volodymyr & Olha
On West Superior at the corner of Oakley,
under the canopied entrance, through the
brown double doors and downstairs.
When:
Saturday, Dec.7 10:00am-4:00pm
Sunday, Dec.8 9:00am-4:00pm
If you decide to go on Sunday, church volunteers also offer
very tasty Ukrainian treats for sale. Try the varennyky and
pampushky. Mmmmmm....
Not enough? Well, if you wish to shop till you drop and eat
till you're beat on Sunday, Plast is also holding a bazaar
featuring Christmas decorations along with lunch and desserts,
and other surprises.
Plast bazaar:
Ukrainian Cultural Center
2247 W Chicago Ave at the corner of Oakley,
right across from Sak's (our favorite Ukrainian
restaurant) and opposite the Chychula flower
shop (Best Florist) on Chicago.
When:
Sunday, Dec. 8 10:00am-1:00pm
Enjoy!
