remains
of Ramon John Hnatyshyn, departs the Hulse, Playfair and
McGarry Funeral Home (315 McLeod Street) for Parliament
Hill

(routing: McLeod to Bank to Gladstone to Metcalfe to
Parliament Hill - under police escort)

10:03 The motorcade arrives at the base of the Peace Tower
The coffin, followed by the insignia bearer and members of
the
Hnatyshyn family, is borne into the Centre Block (through
a
guard of Senate and House of Commons security officers)
and
placed in the Senate Chamber

10:15 Private visit

10:30 Visitation begins (commencing with Canadian dignitaries)

Monday, December 23, 2002

08:30 Former Aides-de-Camp arrive on Parliament Hill and proceed
to
the Senate Reading Room

08:45 Members of the Hnatyshyn family arrive on Parliament Hill
and
are escorted to the Senate Reading Room / Senate Chamber

09:00 Visitation begins (commencing with Lieutenant Governors)

(Note: Former Aides-de-Camp are present in the Senate
Chamber)

12:30 The motorcade, transporting the honorary pallbearers and
additional family members, departs from Hulse, Playfair
and
McGarry for Parliament Hill

(routing: McLeod to Bank to Gladstone to Metcalfe to
Parliament
Hill - under police escort)

12:45 The motorcade arrives at the base of Peace Tower and
assumes
position in the procession

The honorary pallbearers and the additional family members
are
escorted to the Senate Chamber

12:50 The Guard of Honour (100 persons) and Central Band of the
Canadian Forces assume their positions in front of the
Peace
Tower

(Note: All other components of the procession assume
designated
positions in the following order:

- 25-person mounted escort from the RCMP
- 100-person Canadian Forces Escort
- Guard of Honour
- combined Pipes and Drum Band (Air Command and Cameron
Highlanders of Ottawa)
- Central Band of the Canadian Forces
- the hearse
- insignia bearer
- former Aides-de-Camp
- vehicles for the Hnatyshyn family
- vehicles for the honorary pallbearers
- rear detachment of 25 persons from GG Foot Guards

13:00 Vigil guard is withdrawn from the Senate Chamber

Honorary pallbearers are escorted to the base of the Peace

Tower where they form a guard on either side of the main
stairs

Former Aides-de-Camp proceed to the base of the Peace
Tower and
assume a position to the side

13:05 The coffin is carried from the Senate Chamber, followed by
the
insignia bearer and members of the Hnatyshyn family

13:15 The coffin is carried down the central stairs at the base
of
the Peace Tower

The Guard of Honour presents arms

A "General Salute" is presented by the Central Band

The coffin is placed into the hearse

The Bell of the Peace Tower begins to toll 68 times at
15-second intervals (one for each year of Mr. Hnatyshyn's
life)

Members of the Hnatyshyn family, honorary pallbearers and
other
family members are escorted to their cars

The insignia bearer and former Aides-de-Camp assume
positions
behind the hearse

13:25 The procession steps off in slow march time as the
combined
Pipe Band plays "Will Ye No Come Back Again" (pipe and
brass/reed bands will alternate their playing back and
forth en
route to Christ Church Cathedral)

(Note: Slow march time will change to quick march time as
the
procession proceeds onto Wellington Street and revert to
slow
march time as the procession proceeds onto Lyon Street)

The procession proceeds down the upper road to the Queen's

Gate, onto Wellington Street (westward) to Lyon Street
(southward) to Sparks Street (westward) to Christ Church
Cathedral

13:35 The Prime Minister and Mrs. Chrétien arrive at the
Cathedral
and are escorted to their pew

13:40 The Deputy Governor General and Mr. McArdle arrive at the
Cathedral and are escorted to their pew

13:45 The procession arrives at the Cathedral, with the hearse
positioned immediately in front of the main doors of the
Cathedral

(Note:
- both the RCMP mounted escort and 100 person Canadian
Forces
Escort continue on to the corner of Bronson and Sparks

Streets (and are dismissed)
- the Guard of Honour reforms as a Guard of Honour
across
from the main doors of the Cathedral
- the combined Pipes and Drum band continues on to the
corner
of Bronson and Sparks Streets (and is dismissed)
- the Central Band advances and does an about face
adjacent
to the Guard of Honour facing the hearse

The coffin is removed from the hearse

(Note: the honorary pallbearers and the former
Aides-de-Camp
are escorted into the Cathedral and to their pews in
advance
of the coffin)

The coffin and insignia are carried up the main steps and
into
the Cathedral followed by the Hnatyshyn family

The Guard of Honour presents arms

A "General Salute" is presented by the Central Band

(Note: the coffin is placed in the narthex where the
service
will commence)

The procession proceeds down the centre aisle:

- clergy
- the coffin (with pallbearers)
- the insignia bearer
- the Hnatyshyn family

(Note: as the coffin is positioned in the chancel:
- the Hnatyshyn family members are seated in right front
pew
- the pallbearers divide and take seats in the chancel
- the insignia bearer places the insignia on the coffin
and
take his/her place in the chancel

14:00 Funeral Service

15:00 The procession reforms and proceeds down the centre aisle
to
the main doors:

- clergy
- the honorary pallbearers
- the coffin (with pallbearers)
- the insignia bearer
- the Hnatyshyn family

(Note: the honorary pallbearers form a guard on either
side of
the walkway leading from the main doors to the street)

(Note: after the coffin has left the church, the Deputy
Governor General and the Prime Minister and spouses are
accompanied by the celebrant outside the church)

The Guard of Honour presents arms as the coffin is carried
from
the Cathedral

A "General Salute" is offered by the Central Band

A 21-gun salute is given

The coffin and insignia are placed into the hearse

A lament is played

Departure - private committal
