Ankara - This year is TUYAP's third year of organizing the "Young
Artists Painting Competition." This competition is open to young
talented artists training in the field of painting. This year the
first prize went to Aksel Zeydan Goz, second went to Yonca Kirkli and
third to Neslihan Sozugecen, with honorable mentions going to Zeynep
Akgun, Can Aytekin and Erhun Sengul.

Exhibitions of the week

This week two exhibitions by Esen Ertem and the United Painters and
Sculptors Association opened in Ankara, both presented by Vakifbank.

Born in Ankara in 1968, Esen Ertem completed her whole education in
Ankara and graduated from Middle East Technical University (ODTU) as a
chemical engineer.

While working for a private company, Ertem also worked for three years
in the workshop of Kayihan Keskinok's Gallery Art Production.

In 1995 Ertem joined a mixed exhibition at the Vakifbank Art Gallery.
That same year she entered ODTU's Department of Fine Arts and Music,
with the support of Mehmet Yilmaz, on the university teaching staff,
she continued her work at the same school.

Ertem's exhibition will open Nov. 17, 1998, at the entrance of
Vakifbank General Head Office, Ataturk Bulv. No:207 Kavaklidere,
Ankara. The exhibition will be open from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. except
Saturday and Sunday, running till Nov. 28.

In association with Vakifbank's 43rd year of culture and arts
activities, the United Painters and Sculptures association are opening
a mixed exposition from 18-29 November, 1997, at the Vakifbank Koroglu
Art Gallery, Ugur Mumcu cad. No: 78 G.O.P. - Ankara. The exhibition
will be open between 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Art Tit Bits

Samsun - The Merkez Bank at Samsun is exhibiting a collection of 38
paintings from the"Turkish Artists Painting Exhibition". This
collection was transported to Samsun from Ankara by road. The
collection is under extensive security, and will be open for viewing
until 21 NOvember, 1997.

Ankara- State Artist Prof. Dr. Devrim Erbil, who is also on the
teaching staff of Mimar Sinan University is opening his latest
exhibition on 18 November, 1987, at the Miknatis Exhibition Salon. The
artist will exhited 22 paintings which will include oil painting done
in his own unique style.
