Quote from the Lao Ambassador to the UN, Yong Chanthalangsy:

"As of today, there are millions of people in the middle class who
have much more well and money than any of you living oversea."

REALITY: There are only nearly 6 million people in ALL of Laos, the
vast majority of whom make about $800 per year. But, Yong and the new
Lao social elites (LPRP bureaucrats, Lao PDR government officials all
the way up to the President) truly are richer than any of us living
overseas. Yes, they are multi-millionaires on the backs of the
international community, while Laos remains one of the poorest
countries in the world...quite CONTRARY to the very principles of the
Hammer and Sickle which they fly very high.

Quote from DKJ, official Lao People's Relutionary Party propagandist
and photogrpher, and employee of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

I'll owe you sao vangvieng instead of two cases of beerlao."

REALITY: Apart from being an Communist (LPRP) internet junkie, he
seems to also benefit from the local flesh trade.

That one gets me thinking ai vaajmoob. I think everywhere in the
world, people play in gangs, clans, factions or pakpuak. Can't escape
it no matter what company, which country or who's in charge. If you

cross the wrong people, life will be uncomfortable for you.

meanings in the translation and one of them is not what you said. And
I could be wrong. Her Lao might explain the statement in English

...and Charles Bronson came in wanting to buy a resident fishing
license (he had just moved to town) and I wouldn't sell him one,
offered to sell him a non resident one instead and he declined...after
moving to another shop Bronson came in (immediately recognising me) to
buy a spear gun to shoot trout in the river behind his house, wouldn't
sell him one of those either (its illegal) so Bronson started mouthing
off...

"...and I was teaching Kung Fu five nights per week and fighting in
tournaments on weekends...Bronson came at me and I stopped his attack
and I put him outside...He came back the next day (mouthing off only)
and asked to see the owner who was initially thrilled to see such a
celebrity in his store...things got ugly and when Bronson demanded to
the owner to fire me the owner said "Kombat you're fired, but first
throw this idiot (Bronson) out of the store and then go get us some
lunch, I'm starving..."

Better still, why doesn't he start another usenet forum dedicated to his
hero Steve. That way he and his troll mates can have "dedicated" place
to conduct their mutual masturbation sessions without bugging others.

Seems to me like he can't live without Steve... hero worship at its best.

The single greatest loss of the Hmong is their inability to make use
of the knowledge of the geniuses whom they simply refer to as saub vwm.

I can't remember the author, but I remembered the following quotes:

"Greatness is an ordinary person with an extraordinary attitude.
Greatness does not come from wanting to be great but from doing
something extraordinary and become great."
