Why do you always get it wrong? Even tiny Singapore has sniffer dogs,
robots and listening devices to detect people buried in rubble. But
the biggest problem with collapsed buildings is working against time
to cut and remove the huge concrete slaps without causing a cave-in on
the people below.

A tremendous number of people are still under rubble, China should
accept rescues teams from other countries. Otherwise, it's nothing
more than standing by, doing nothing and letting those people die.

The Chinese never asked anyone for help. Most every nation offered
help, and the Chinese turned them ALL down, then reluctantly said
"send money" but not people. They're even taking a risk by letting
Japanese in. They only accepted one of the Japanese offers, they
didn't ASK them for help.
At 1 1/3rd billion people, there are already enough people in China
to do the job.
Chinese are a very different RACE, not like American blacks who sit
around waiting to be bailed out by other RACES.

Rescue teams are most effective in the first 36 hours. After that
people die from their injuries from shock. A few lucky ones who may
be trapped in building voids and the not too badly injured may survive
up to a week or maybe longer. Voids means large slabs of concrete
leaning against something to leave some space. The "great" media
stories are the rescue of these few lucky ones. These rescues of
course provide photogenic opportunities of superbly equipped S&R teams
with their fancy equipment.
The damage was massive and widespread. Time was the essence and rescue
teams had to work immediately and round the clock. There was no time
to allow in pretty foreigners in their uniforms with their fancy
equipment. You can picture the effort required to fly in foreigners
and a van full of their equipment. Then you have to provide
translators, brief and direct them, feed and house them. Heck. Such
teams would be more trouble than they are worth. But the international
pressure to participate in the rescue was strident. For the sake of
public relations China had to "accept" their help. Leave it at that.
With a 8 richter scale (revised upward from 7.8) concrete pulverises
and there won't be much of anything left standing. And if you look at
the pictures there isn't much left of anything that will create voids
in which to search for lucky survivors. So don't blame the Japanese
team for lack of success.

neatly summarizes the damage caused. Always remember that 8.0
releases TEN TIMES more energy than a 7.0. It is not one unit more
and it is not double the damage.

The Japanese team was ready to go the moment the earthquake happened. They
waited and waited for permission. They could have been onsite in a matter of
hours.
They did miracle work in Taiwan, 9/21/1999. It was a shame and a tragedy they
were blocked by the CCP.
