Looks like President under obligation to compensate the armed people
who fought a heroic battle against the ruthless LTTE terrorists. There
is no harm in compensating them anyway he can. What we all must
remember is that everybody done their duty in this war, no more or
less the armed personnel. Of course there were traitors. Allready many
defense personnel were promoted to higher levels. It is possible he
may be planning to create diplomatic positions to some of them.
Already many political codgers - useless uneducated clueless henchmen -
appointed to many important diplomatic positions. Was this with this
intentions that he removed the very able permanent representative to
UN, Dr. Dayan Jayathilake. His(Dayan's) effort at this position during
the conflict amptly documented. He was hated by our good-for-nothing
foreign minister who is now a liability to the government like the
thug Mervyn de Silva.
It is this type of nepotism and favouritism that caused many qualified
able people to leave Sri Lanka. And that was the main cause why many
Tamil people were deprived of due employment causing many of them
turning to terrorism. Looks like this government hasn't learned its
lessons yet. It is going to be a very important fact that suitable
people are selected for appropriate positions to avoid another
disaster.
