Gather ye rosebuds while ye may - one of the sites that will probably
disappear when Geocities closes is:

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/7589/index.html

German South African Resource Page

This page is dedicated to various issues relating to German South Africans,
including genealogy, local history and church matters. Where ever possible,
identical pages have been made available in English and German.

I suggest that if others know of any useful sites that will be similarly
affected by Yahoo!'s decision to close Geocities, they post the URL with a
brief description in the relevant newsgroups, with "Geocities closing:" at the
beginning of the subject line.

I'm not looking for a home for any one particular site (I've copied the site
in question to my computer).

I'm asking if we can make a LIST of sites on Geocities with useful
genealogical information that might be lost when Geocities closes, so that
people who might be interersted in that information can look before it closes.

I suggest that the subject lines in such messages begin "Geocities closing:"
followed by the subject of the website, to facilitate collection.

[BTW: You set follow-ups to a newsgroup I am unable to read

Hmm. Thought that was your setting. I didn't even know the group existed.

Just to let you know that my site will be moving to www.safrika.org -

Great -- glad to see that you have put up a notice on the site.
