A friend recently shared with me the response he obtained from the
Journal of Slovene (Slovenian?) Studies. The journal is a publication
of the Society of Sloven Studies notorious in the opinion of many for
its Marxist-Leninist orientation. Editor Donald Reindl wrote:
"Thank you for your contribution, which I recently received.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept it for publication. Like most
academic journals, Slovene Studies does not accept unsolicited book
reviews "
[This, of course, is unmitigated bull. Only inbred quasi "academic"
groups have such restrictive policy because they could not stand
exposition of view that may go beyond their parochial doctrines.]
"In this case, the review also fails to conform to typical scholarly
standards or tone."
[We wonder who sets the standards: Communist Party of the USA,
Communist Party of Slovenia (now called Liberal Democracy of
Slovenia,
or just simply party boss Milan Kurcan.]
"These include unsubstantiated and/or vague observations (e.g.,
"Slovenia ... remains burdened with communist heritage"
[sounds pretty definite and true to me but certainly not vague, just
recall the recent flurry of nostalgia at the anniversary of Tito-
bandito's birthday!],
"...communist jurisprudence and its courts still firmly
entrenched..."
[All judges on the Slovenian Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, and
courts of appeals are either old communists, descendants of
communists, ideological heirs of communists, or persons with
communist
views which are reflected in all their actions. One need only read
their decisions])
"and obscure or inappropriate emotional references (e.g., "collapse
of
the evil Empire..."
[the reviewer refers to the Austro-Hungarian Empire to be an evil
empire
in so far as Slovenians were concerned -- if comrade Reindl (probably
an Austrian)
cannot grasp this he should visit Carinthia, a one time Slovenian
province
that is now totally Germanized. That, of course, is not a problem for
Marxists as after the eventual triumph of communism there will be no
more national borders and the proletariat will become truly
international],
"In free Yugoslavia..."
[In Yugoslavia Slovenians were FREE -- and they were NOT FREE in
Austria, the evil empire],
"...the onslaught of communist hordes..."
[what else but hordes were the communist armies, especially the Soviet
Red Army?
Ask any of the women who may still be around how the Soviet Army
treated them. Comrade Reindl no doubt agrees with comrade Stalin's
reasoning that after a soldier had fought for thousands of miles he
should be granted some "indulgence and understanding" for brutally
raping "a few women...")
" For example, an observation on entrenched communist jurisprudence
would need to be substantiated by reference to politically motivated
court decisions or legislation that have remained intact since the
communist era, that serve as precedents for present-day decisions,
and
so on,"
[Well, that ignoramus Reindl obviously never read any of the
Slovenian
"judicial" decisions, for instance those in property restitution
cases
or those in the case for rehabilitation or exoneration of Bishop
Rozman, or for example the decision acquitting OZNA's murdering
comissar
Mitja Ribicic. If those decisions are not reeking with the communist
dctrine then the works of Lenin are pure academic poetry, not to
speak
of the words of comrade Mao, another of Reindl's idols.]
"Let me emphasize that, as an academic journal"
[Members of Slovenian Academy are: Josip Broz alias Tito (doctorate
in
military science from the Edward Kardelj University which did not
have
a military science departemnt at the time), Edward Kardelj after whom
the Edward Kardelj University in Ljubljana is named, Boris Kidric
science foundation...Generally, between 1945 and 1990 only communists
and their sycophants could become members of the Slovenian Academy of
Arts and Sciences],
" Slovene Studies does not take a political stance"
[In view of the above recital of the party line that is an amazing
statement but quite acceptable in Marxist dialectic spewed out by
comrade
Reindl. Either Reindl is so inured in newspeak that he truly does not
know what a political stance is or he is covering his Society which
enjoys a tax exemption from the U.S. Government as an academic
nonprofit which it obviously is not] and therefore does not accept or
reject any submission on the basis of political orientation (hear the
voice of Comrade Stalin?) We asked SSS to submit IRS Form
990 to find out about its income, possibly subventions from Slovenia's
regime,
but it responded that its income was not large enough to require
filing such form.
There remains a question whether the US government determined whether
SSS
is a communist dominated organizatio because as such it would not be
eligible
for exemption under IRS code Section 501(q). Of course the level of
income may be determinative in SSS case.
With best wishes,
[We remind comrade Reindl that the proper salutation is: Death to
Fascism -- Liberty to the People! and we reprimand him for using the
burgeois salutation unless, of course, he had in his wisdom
determined
that it will help fooling useful dupes (korisne budale) about who and
what he really is.]
"Donald F. Reindl
Book Review Editor, Journal of Slovene Studies"
[One never knows, of course, if he actually is a card carrying member
or did he always act only
as a front. Addressing him as "comrade" is done on the basis of St
Matthew's quote: "By their actions yee shall know them." What kind of
card one carries I cannot know and it is irrelevant anyway as actions
rather than sffiliations are determinative.]
