Whisky is of course not a Scotch originated drink. RH

Possibly not, but the Scots certainly perfected the art.

Good whisky, of course, is.
Normally I don't bother even responding to
a great fat Einglisch Turd such as yourself,
but as Christmas is over and I'm spoiling
for a bit of blood, I'll just ask you if you're
familiar with the _etymology_ of the word
'whisky', you great fat Einglisch Turd - ?

Sorry, Bob, Canadian is also whisky.

You mean the foreign owned Scotch whisky industry? RH
Tell that to the Irish...... RH

Oh I dunno; for example you're *called*

He's Sassanach. He hasn't a clue.
But since I am sitting here, full of clove studded ham, I'll help the lad
out.
It comes from the Gaelic word (gasp!) "Uisce Beatha". Translation: Water of
life.
There are many more words in English that are derived from the Gaelic and
the Welsh.
Little credit the English dictionaries give to that fact.

Whether you consider it worthy of the name is another matter. :-)
Some is, some isn't. What is your point? The Scots certainly
perfected the art.

Canadian Whisky has long been a favorite here in the states.
Why, I do not know.
;=)
Yah, Big Joe Kennedy liked it just fine!

cooking with them.

Henderson is a bit slow, you know.
After all he uses the Bank of England banknotes and the Chinese invented
paper money in 650 AD and a Scotsman invented the BOE.
Henderson goes by London bus that runs on Macadam roads with wheels clad in
pneumatic tyres both invented by Scotsmen. He uses the internet which comes
down the telephone line and the telephone was invented by a Scotsman. What
would the poor lad do without us?

What has ownership got to do with it - it is still Scotch Whisky. Is
it because it is an extremely good and marketable commodity that makes
it so attractive to foreign buyers?
Who owns the major players in gin distillation - even if they put
'London' on the label as well as gin?
Tanqueray, Gordon's, Beefeater, Bombay Sapphire and Gilbey's for
example?

Many folk - Google Jim Murray or Michael Jackson for starters. (If you
put in Michael Jackson be sure to add whisky as well to ensure you get
the right guy)
For a more international opinion you could try these:

So the Scots make many of the best whiskies.
Now, who says they don't?

What has gin got to do with the question? Gin isn't the national drink
of England. RH

The Irish and the Americans for two. RH
Which Scotch if I may "enquire".
British made - yes.
Scotch whisky can't be made anywhere other than Scotland. Why did you
not answer the point I made - what has ownership got to do with it?

Prove it - the two links I provided are American - which would
indicate that you are wrong. The status quo as you habitually say?
