Karan Johar: Golden goose on his hands
Whoever said you shouldn't count your chickens before they're hatched
didn't take a good look at Bollywood. And Karan Johar, who's all set
to don the 'Midas man' title, with his next magnum opus Kabhi Khushi
Kabhi Ghum, is all the proof we need.
The whizkid has already made a profit by selling the satellite and
overseas rights of his Amitabh-Shah Rukh-Hrithik starrer. Apparently,
he has managed to rope in almost Rs 40 crore, and the film itself cost
about Rs 25-30 crore.
Add to that the proceeds from the music sales and distribution and
Karan sure has a golden goose on his hands. I think the adage 'The
early bird catches the worm' would be more appropriate in this
instance.
Impressed, the film was lapped up like hot cakes. The film also stars
the Kaho Na Pyaar Hai beauty, Amisha Patel. Also, while any other
maker would quickly postpone the film, considering that the Aamir Khan
starrer Lagaan is to be released on the same day, Zee seems to have
stuck to the release date. Looks like this one's gonna be quite a
fight!
'Aks' reeks of Amitabh's versatality
Can you act in a number of big-banner films, sing your own songs, do a
television show, run a company and be a master at each and every one
of these? And also feature in a number of commercials, now and then,
for good measure? Well, that's Aby Baby for you.
The man has an inexhaustible source of energy. And that's stating it
mildly. Like, he's giving vent to his vocal cords in Rakesh Mehra's
Aks. The song in question, Bhala Bura is simply boombastic (can it be
anything else with that deep baritone?).
With Gulzar penning the lyrics and Anu Malik composing the music,
Amitabh is simply the tops. Check out the Aks - The Reflection album
