Mumbai based painter, also known for painting Actress Madhuri Dixit, was
attacked and beaten for painting Hindu mythological Sita in erotic and liberal
fashion. His house was completely ransacked by a young hindu mob.

This painter was bestowed with prestigious Bharti awards and internationally
recognized. I'd hope for protest by hindus for safety of their citizens in
their own homes.Thank you.

What do you think would happen in the US if you displayed a painting of a
Madonna or Mary Magdalene and Jesus in the nude ?

There are fanatics everywhere-but forget an "immoral" country like
America. [ personally speaking I was told America is promiscuous but I was
thoroughly disappointed .]

Try the heart of the Vatican and God painted naked on the roof of the
Cistine (sp?) Chapel ( ? was it ?). Do you see anyone maligning
Michaelangelo ? I do not think so - unless you belong to the Republican
Party, Army of God, Conservative Christians, KKK, Promise Keepers . [ I
know it is wrong to seperate them with commas but they all have different
names; and I was just trying to be grammatically correct ]

Even the Neo Nazis have freedom of expression. MF Hussain the Muslim
artist is more sympathetic to Hindu mythology than Islam - don't
disillusion your best admirers.

americans are promiscuous; just that most of them have standards.
and the rest are all men.

even if hussein were sympathetic to hindu mythology, he isn't
an admirer of the goons that issued threats. shouldn't be.

Now is the time for Hindus to borrow a bit of paranoia from
the misearble monotheists.
Why would a Muslim man want to paint Hindu Godesses nude ?
Surely the whole idea is from the Pakistani ISI to provoke a reaction
from the Hindu fundamentalists ?.
The new BJP govt would then be asked to bring in 5 year jail
sentences for anyone 'insulting the religious sentiments' . Who would
this benefit ? Why Muslims of course ! Any criticism of the Prophet ,
his marriage to a six year old , to his daughter in law , outlawing of
adoption in Islam , sharing of the booty by God etc.etc would merit a

But of course, women have standards. Glad someone had the sense to realise
this about American women(they receive enuff flak as it is). This comment
about men bothers me somewhat-is it only american men have no standards or
just men in general?

must have included a smiley up there somewhere. didn't reckon it
needed one, but (sigh) one can never be sure.

all men, of course - incorrigible bounders that they are. they
don't sing and dance and entertain; worse still, they jump to argue
with a woman (or is it *the* woman ?) whenever she makes her point.
how can it ever be possible that they have standards ?

This further proves my idea that all indian/pakistani/bangladeshi men are
born jokers. Not everything has to be turned into a joke, imo.
I thgt u were serious, but what the heck...

even if i were serious, which i wasn't, the question that begs to be
asked is - should you have been taking what i said seriously;
i mean, "americans are promiscuous" and that kind of thing ?
but, in the larger interests of mankind, let's just let it go.

ps: yes, we do tend to have a sense of humour not readily appreciated.

Because it is indeed the prevailing opinion of traditional people at home, yes.
When someone Asian(old) passes a comment that I am now an "American girl",
very often they mean it as an indirect insult.

: but, in the larger interests of mankind, let's just let it go.

of course, i am only edgy since I have a final in 2 hrs and need to let off
steam btwn the revisions;)

You must have misheard 'puritanical' somehow(as "promiscuous"). There
is serial monogamy though ;-) It costs a lot ;-) ;-)

It is not Ranjit's or my views, but that of the masses sentiments which
might be offended. Of course they could be educated by a well respected
leader than lead by misguided by well respected leader.

FIDA HUSSEIN should paint Mohammed and his innumerable wives in
erotic and liberal fashion. Only then will seculars like me fight for his
RIGHTS. I would even lobby for some prestigious Bharti awards for him.
I do protest for safety of Indian citizens in India as long as they dont try to
become famous by provoking religious sentiments.
FIDA Hussein should also lobby for lifting the ban on Satanic Verses in India
so that seculars like me can accept him as truly secular and not a rabble rouser.

Every sentence of your reply reflect your hindu fanatical statements just like
what Bajrang Dal, a Hindu Fantical Organization views.

He is a painter and according to the declared views of the hindus he could
paint who ever he wants, if you would like to paint prophet mohammed and his
wives in nude you welcome to do you.

It is not Hussain who banned the Satanic Verses rather the Hindu Government of
India. Just to remind you there are numarous books that affended the hindu
sentiments are banned by indian government. We should lobby for release of
all the book from the censor including numarous books hurt hindu sentiment.
