Hasina flies to Kolkata today
BNP sends delegation to pay homage to Basu

The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, will fly to Kolkata this morning to
pay her last respect to veteran politician, legendary leftist leader
and former chief minister of West Bengal, India, Jyoti Basu.
An air force plane leaves Dhaka for Kolkata at 11:00am today with
the prime minister and others 27 members of her entourage, prime
minister’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad said Monday.
Among others, Jatiya Party chairman and former president HM Ershad
MP,deputy leader of the house Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, agriculture
minister Matia Chowdhury, Awami League presidium member Kazi
Jafarullah, Awami League general secretary and LGRD and cooperatives
minister Syed Ashraful Islam, joint secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif,
Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon MP, JSD President Hasanul
Haque Inu MP, foreign minister Dipu Moni and prime minister’s press
secretary Abul Kalam Azad will accompany the prime minister.
The prime minister is expected to return home this afternoon after
paying her homage to veteran politician Jyoti Basu.
Our Diplomatic Correspondent add: The main opposition party,
Bangladesh Nationalist Party, has sent a two-member delegation headed
by Dhaka City Corporation mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka to attend the
funeral of Jyoti Basu, Khoka told New Age before starting for Kolkata
on Monday evening that he was going to attend the funeral. Ashraf
Uddin Nizam, a BNP lawmaker, was also accompanying the mayor.
