Four people are reported to have been killed as a man opened fire at a shopping
centre in Finland.
The gunman, dressed in black, opened fire in Espoo, Finland's second largest
city after the nearby capital Helsinki.
Finnish police have confirmed four deaths following the gunshots at the Sello mall.
Police have named the gunman as 43-year-old Ibrahim Shkupolli and say he has a
criminal record.
Officers have cordoned off the mall and are searching for him.
Media reports say the suspect opened fire with a 9mm hand gun.
"I can confirm that four people are dead," local police chief Jyrkky Kallio said.
"But we do not know yet whether there are other casualties and how many there are.
"We also do not know as yet the whereabouts of the shooter, but we know who he is."
Mr Kallio is refusing to disclose further details ahead of a scheduled press
conference.
Several ambulances rushed to the scene in the suburb of Espoo after the shooting
erupted around 10:20am (local time).
Security services quickly evacuated the shopping centre and trains are not
stopping at the local railway station.
Earlier, witnesses told Finland's STT news agency they had seen at least one
person lying on the ground following the shooting.
The newspaper Ilta-Sanomat said on its website that at least seven shots had
been fired but it gave no source for the information.
"When we were going out I heard sounds like shots from the third floor, and then
I left," said a mall employee, who declined to give her name.
"I paid for my groceries and I wanted to go to my car when I was told that you
cannot go there," shopper Jorma Romo said.
"They were hurrying people out and people were asking (why)."
The incident is the third major shooting in the past two years in Finland, where
gun crime has become a major issue and gun ownership is widespread.
In November 2007, an 18-year-old went on a rampage at his school in Tuusula,
killing seven pupils and a teacher before turning the gun on himself.
In September 2008, a 22-year-old trainee chef killed 10 people at a college
before killing himself.

It's not for me to prove anything. If someone says the shooter was
motivated by Islam then it's up to them to present their proof if they
have any.
The facts so far show that they have none and that personal reasons

No, it is not an assertion, it is a fact that there is no evidence
whatsoever that the shootings were religiously motivated.
The evidence that does exist shows that the shooting was motivated by
jealousy and specifically targetted against the killers girlfriend,
against whom he had a restraining order, her new boyfriend and his
co-workers at the supermarket where the shooting took place.
Nothing to do with religion at all.

He didn't shoot complete strangers. He shot his ex girlfriend, her new
boyfriend along with his co-workers at a supermarket before going home
and committing suicide. A crime of passion with no evidence whatsoever
of religion being involved.

The Woman he killed in the apartment was his ex-girlfriend. She worked
at the mall. The killer was a jealous person and it is speculated that
he suspected his girl had an affair with a colleague at work. She had
gotten a new apartment and was just about to move the very day she got
killed. The court had also imposed a restraint order and the guy had a
past with domestic violence and possession of illegal firearms. He also
was under investigation in a smuggling case. According to store workers
and even his own parents the killer was a cocky, arrogant, rude person
who does not care about other people.
Sounds like a typical criminal thug, not some religious jihadist.
