Africa's Double Standards

"I find it very peculiar that in Africa when we are fighting
among ourselves (with selfish motives such as those of
nations involved in the conflict in the Democratic Republic
of Congo), and we are condemned by the developed world we
always insist on the developed world "minding its own
business" and "leaving Africa alone".

If this is what we desire, why is it that when we are hit by
a natural disaster we turn to the same developed world,
condemning it -- like we did during the tragedy in
Mozambique -- for a slow response?

If African nations such as Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Ethopia and
Eritrea can pour millions into wars, if African leaders can
continue to live in vast luxury, then why is it so difficult
for these nations and their leaders to help their fellow
Africans? The developed world will adopt the double standard
that has been set by us Africans. When will Africans learn
to solve Africa's problems?"
