Although the letter said the receiver has no obligation to mail back
RM26.00 to the company, but I feel very uncomfortable if I ignore the
appeal after seeing those handicapped persons' picture in the letter.
Definitely I would like to do charity works if I am not wasting my
money to fight with Petronas in the court. Unfortunately the timing of
receiving this letter really makes me angry on this kind of hard
selling tactic.
I wondering this kind of hard selling to bait sympathy from normal
people is an ethical or right things to do or not. I am going to throw
away the cards and not give a single cent to this company because I am
totally disapproved using handicapped people to push for hard selling
marketing.
Putting our differences aside, I have a similar gripe.
I hate it the most when I am having my lunch and people come up to
me asking for donations and shove the pictures of handicapped people
right in my face.
I have symphaties and willing to donate at my own discretion but when
these donation seekers do things when I need peace and quiet the most
while having my lunch, I almost want to jump up and punch the person
for spoiling my appetite and day, regardless if it's a pretty girl
or not doing this to me.
That was really a big low down and most turn off approach of all
donation seekers! Everytime I feel like screaming at these idiots
to get lost, most of the time i just ignore them until they go
away. They spoiled my mood and I am even MORE FIRMED on NOT donating
to them.
I can say most people will feel uncomfortable and not happy with this
kind of hard sell tactic. You feel guilty if you decline the offer and
you also feel you are forced to donate if you pay this company.
Sometimes I feel handicapped people having same mentality with Malay
race, they always think they are victims and marginalised by other
people.
