Here is my answer:
This entire article is complete BS. Truong was not invited by the late
President Marcos of the Philippines to attend the Fischer vs. Karpov
match in Manila in 1975. Truong did not qualify for the World Junior
(under 21) Championship in Manila that same year. Truong was not a
chess icon at a very young age. Truong did not win many national
junior and open championships. I personally defeated Truong in a chess
tournament in 1980 in New York when he was a rated Class-A Player. His
claims about being captured by pirates and the other dramatic events
he often recounts have proven to be unverifiable. In short, his whole
tale is complete baloney.

These stories about Mr. Truong's past have been stated before numerous
times by Ms. Polgar. Unfortunately, they have proved to be unverifiable,
despite significant efforts to unearth facts to support his tales. Mr.
Truong and Ms. Polgar also represented to the United States Chess
Federation (USCF) membership during the last executive board election
that Mr. Truong was a successful businessman who made a fortune and
retired at a yound age to devote himself to the development of chess in
this country. The fact is that while making those claims he was filing
for personal bankruptcy in the Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District
of New York. Mr. Truong was also previously discharged in personal
bankruptcy in 1991.
Your paper has reported accurately that there is an allegation that Mr.
Truong's 2007 bankruptcy petition was fraudulent. I can confirm that
there is an on-going criminal bankruptcy fraud investigation regarding
Mr. Truong's 2007 petition. It is being conducted by the US Attorney's
Office in Brooklyn, NY.
Ms. Polgar and Mr. Truong also hid their marrage for most of the time
they were running for the executive board of the USCF until they were
about to be outed as being married.
I and some 14 others are engaged in litigation with Ms. Polgar and Mr.
Truong in Federal District Court in Lubbock. The truth about this couple
will be coming out in the near future when their depositions under oath
are taken in this litigation. Your readers will soon learn that all that
glitters is not gold. I will provide more details on this couple next
week, including the federal criminal investigation of Ms. Polgar and at
least one of her associates that is on-going in California. To be

these negative comments about Truong will last. We know from
experience with her that Susan is on the phone to this newspaper right
now demanding that these comments be removed. Susan operates several
websites and every time somebody questions this story, the questions
are deleted.
The entire story about Truong starting as a "chess icon", a media
sensation and a celebrity at age 5, and then his escape from pirates,
etc. is discussed in many places, including Paul Hoffman's 2007 book
"The King's Gambit", ISBN 1401300979, pages 184-186 and 216-226. Paul
Hoffman made great efforts to verify Truong's story and asked Truong
to let him meet his father for verification purposes, all without
success.

The result was that none of Truong's story could be verified anywhere
and all of it is almost certainly untrue.

places and we have all read it before, but it has never previously
appeared in the Lubbock newspapers, so it was put in as a filler by
somebody who did not realize what would happen if it appeared there.

Does it? Studs Turkel is certainly the best American interviewer of
people over the past 50 years. He said that even WWII veterans waited
40 years or 50, to tell their truths.
What it might sound like to you, is to do with you! Which is to say
you never suffered any trauma yourself, certainly not life-
threatening, and are 'free' to offer your opinion.
You are also free from sensibility and respect. What's the game, get
the foreigner?
