Lebanese Army units spread in the Southern City of Sidon
and its surrounding areas, implementing strict security
measures and identity search operations, following the
incident that took place yesterday night at the Maronite
St. Elias Cathedral in Sidon. In details of the incident,
two dynamite finger explosives were thrown yesterday night
at the main entrance of St. Elias Cathedral in Sidon,
inflicting only material damage.

www.alanwar.com

In this framework, Speaker of the House, Nabih Berry,
contacted by telephone Maronite Parish Bishop in Sidon,
Monsignor Hanna Al-Helou, condemning the incident. A number
of deputies, political, security, military and religions
dignitaries also visited the Maronite Parish, whereby they
condemned the said incident.

In a statement issued by the Maronite Parish's Secretariat
General, it expressed sorrow regarding the incident,
considering it as a coward and harmful act. However, the
statement added, the incident shall not affect the national
existence among the Lebanese

PA minister says intifada planned

Mohammed Zaatari
Daily Star correspondent

A Palestinian Cabinet minister said on Friday that the five-month-old
uprising against Israel had been planned since the Camp David peace talks
failed in July, contradicting past contentions of a spontaneous outburst
from Palestinians on the street.
Imad Faluji, the Palestinian National Authority's Communications Minister,
said during a PLO rally in Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp outside of Sidon that
it was a mistake to think that the intifada was sparked by Israeli Prime
Minister-elect Ariel Sharon's controversial visit to Al-Aqsa mosque compound
in late September.
"It had been planned since Chairman Arafat's return from Camp David, when he
turned the tables in the face of the former US president (Bill Clinton) and
rejected the American conditions," Faluji said.
At the US presidential retreat of Camp David, Maryland, Clinton had pressed
Arafat to make concessions, particularly on the return of Palestinian
refugees, in response to outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak's
willingness to surrender some Jerusalem neighborhoods to the Palestinians.
Barak's unprecedented step is widely viewed as contributing to Sharon's
election victory.
Faluji's remarks contrast with previous Palestinian statements blaming
Sharon's visit to the mosque compound for sparking a spontaneous uprising by
Palestinians frustrated with the peace process. Israel has long contended
the intifada, in which more than 400 people have been killed, was planned.
Faluji did not elaborate on the planning or who was involved.
He also said the PLO was reviving its "military action" groups to escalate
the fighting against Israel and called for a meeting of Arab defense
ministers to "face up to Israeli aggression."
"The PLO is going back to the 60s, 70s and 80s. The Fatah Hawks, the Kassam
Brigades, the Red Eagle and all the military action groups are returning to
work," he told a crowd of nearly 2,500 people who included local Palestinian
faction leaders.
Faluji warned Israel that it would not "enjoy a single night of calm" if
Palestinians continued to be killed at the hands of the Jewish state.
He praised the stand adopted by Lebanon and Syria in backing the Palestine
cause. "What the Zionist entity faced in south Lebanon will be a picnic
compared with what it will face when the Palestinian people become enraged,"
he said. "The Palestinian resistance will strike in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and
in every inch of Palestinian territory.
"Palestinian vengeance will be harder and stronger than many expect . we won
't let Israel enjoy a single night of calm as long Palestinian blood
continues to flow."
He argued that Palestinians were in Lebanon temporarily "and it's not
permissible to encroach on the right of refugees to return (to their
homeland) in accordance with United Nations Resolution 194." with agencies

This is the second bombing, following the first in a church in Tripoli.

They will of course say it is the hidden hand of Zionists, and not Muslim
extremists.

To define "They", I would go:

1- 20some years of war in Lebanon and we haven't heard of "They" killing
people in churches, the only one we heard about is the assassination of Toni
Franjiyeh in a church in Ihdin and that was done by the "they" i.e. the LF
conducted by Geagea.

2- Also 20some years of war in Lebanon and the other incident we heard about
people killed in a church was the killing in Sayedit el Najat and this also
was conduct by the above people and this is how Geagea was put in jail.

So, again ME, tell us who are "They" ?

What landed Gaeg@e in jail is the murder of Danny Chamoun, his wife and
children. The trial was a joke and you might benefit from reading the
transcripts. Not that I think that the man is an angel, but I did read the
trial transcript and there was nothing close to a proof that was presented
to implicate him in the murders.

> So, again ME, tell us who are "They" ?

Don't know who ME is referring to when he says "they", but it is Islamic
extremists who bombed churches in Tripoli and Northern Lebanon. They were
also attempting to bomb a Christian Conference in Balamand a few years back,
when one of the booby-trapped trucks exploded killing its occupants and
foiling the plot. You might benefit from expanding your horizons a bit,
instead of continuously coming up with false opinions.

This is a newsgroup. Do you understand what that means? Don't be surprised
when someone corrects your inaccuracies. You claimed that Tony Franjieh was
killed in a church, and this is false. You claimed that Ga@gea was
originally sent to jail for bombing a Church, and this is false. You claimed
that in twenty years of war in Lebanon, no one but the two false incidents
that you referred to has attacked people in Churches or Churches, this is
also false. I have no reason to correct an incorrect story.

You're absolutely right, my mistake, you were NOT giving opinions. You were
attempting to state facts, but unfortunately for you, they were false. The
only question is if you were doing it willingly or out of ignorance. Kind of
like your claim a week or two ago that only 10-15% of donations go to worthy
causes.

Right goes with wrong and false goes with true.

An opinion can be right and wrong.. where right and wrong is relative
to some value system. For example, I can say as a matter of opinion that
Bin Laden is a hero. Relative to the value system in the US that would be
a wrong opinion. Etc.

A statement can be true or false but again that is based on a (usualy more
rigorous) proof system.

Hope this helps..

Fact: Geagea was found innocent of the Jail bombing, it was a court ruling
but I am sure you have no idea what the case was all about, "THEY" are the

It does not matter to you who "They" are, because you have blind and
prejudice hate towards one group, and all that matters to you is attacking
the LF, lets face it, you totally went on a tangent from the subject at
hand, which is about a Church and Mosque bombing, and Stores that sell
Alcoholic Beverages. I have no idea why you brought geagea into this!

Ya ME,
you started with accusation of "they" and "church in Tripoli"

You did not honor my question with an enlightening response, actually with
any response...

then you answered about the "mini markets that sell beer in Saidon"
then you said and I quote you:

I believe that was addressed to yourself, since I, from the beginning
haven't changed the subject at hand yet.

Now, let's go back to the same question: Who are "they"?

Geagea bombed jail too to be found innocent of the jail bombing??

Since I cannot rely on information, but keep getting a rebut, I did my own
research

"Geagea is charged with ordering the Oct. 1990 murder of Christian rival Dan
y Chamoun and his German wife and two young sons, as well as the February
1994 bombing of a crowded church in which 10 people died."
"In June 1999 the Judicial Council sentenced three former Lebanese Forces
militiamen to death in absentia, and leader Samir Geagea to life in prison,
for the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rashid Karami in
1987"

Excuse me, but your point below has nothing to do with Lebanon or the facts,
you decided to split hairs in an attempt at being a smart-ass. What's the

There's a big difference between inquiring about something and stating it.
If you're here to learn as you claim (as opposed to propagandize), then does

I posted my opinion, and that is far from accurate or inacurate information,

As Jumblatt put it "Al MAhdala" is they.

If you had made further research, you would know by now that the Dory
Chamoun was asked "who killed your brother" at University Louaizy
conference, he replied "Geagea was framed"

> "In June 1999 the Judicial Council sentenced three former Lebanese Forces

Please that trial was mockery, witnesses were beaten, many were forced to
sign documents under torture without knowing the contents. 3 month ago, the
same tactics were used again, read the papers. Every militia in Lebanon is
guilty of using these tactics, and all were given Amnesty by Hrawi when he
took office, but Since the LF were opposed to Syria, they and only they got
the Axe, we Always said, even our enemies, said it too, "Try all or try
none!".

Since the SSNP Killers of Sheikh Bachir gemayel were freed from Jail by
Syria, and roaming free in Lebanon I fail to see why you are stuck on Geagea
only. Like we said in the past, the SMV Selective Memory Virus on SCL, is
alive and well.

Still this has no relevance to the church and mosques bombings... I fail to
see why are you digging up graves???

Based on my information, whoever killed your Sheikh was captured and jailed
during the time that Amin Gemayel was serving in office as president of the
country, why wasn't this guy prosecuted and tried then?

Again, based on my research, Geagea was imprisoned after the bombing of the
Sayedet el Najat Church and for that same reason and others.

The relevance is that you are accusing "they" who you--until now-- failed to
say "who they are" while the people famous for bombing churches are the ones
you are defending...

You are absolutely correct on thaT ONE HERE .
I'll tell you why Amine did nothing :
Because Ammouny Goumayyel had a very close

I still fail to see what Geagea, and the recent attacks on a Mosque have got
to do with each others?

And for the Millionth time, The Court dropped the case against Geagea in
regard to the Church Bombing, which automatically puts back Geagea under the
Amnesty law, which every wartime person is protected by. But in this case
Geagea was a Political Prisoner and the reason they threw everything at him,
is to keep all Anti Syrians in Jail or in exile.

He was tried for the Bombing, later the charges were dropped, because
witnesses who were tortured to tesitify against him, later changed their
testimony.

Famous! Do you read before you type? Geagea nor the LF were convicted with
the Church Bombing. Go read the court rulings. It is like accusing Berri
of bombing his Mosques.

please read:

It is indicative of the mood among Christians that many members of the
community reacted with relief when the former head of the Lebanese Forces
(LF) Samir Geagea was declared innocent by the Court of Justice of being
behind the bombing of a church in Zouq in 1994. Mr. Geagea's trial was
followed with increasing alarm by many Christians, who saw the fate of the
former LF leader as symbolic of their own. Paradoxically, for much of his
final years in power, Mr. Geagea was reviled by many of the same Christians
as a brutal and cynical politician who, through his recklessness,
contributed significantly to undermining the power of the community at the
national level.

The Zouq trial ultimately collapsed under the weight of its own
contradictions. With no convincing evidence that Mr. Geagea was behind the
bombing aside from the testimony of another defendant who ended up denying
the accusation, the magistrates of the Court of Justice had no real choice
but to declare the former LF leader innocent. Mr. Geagea did, however,
receive a ten-year sentence for establishing an illegal paramilitary group.
Given that he is already serving a life sentence for the assassination of
the former National Liberal Party leader, Dany Chamoun, Mr. Geagea probably
considered the lighter sentence as somewhat amusing.
Ultimately, Mr. Geagea's fate will be decided by political factors, although
it appears likely that, if he survives, he will spend quite a few more years
in the basement of the defense ministry where he is imprisoned.

Was that after 8 or 10 years of emprisonment without trial? Amine was

Inquiring is one thing, and assigning blame for 20 years of war is
another. I have no idea what ME's way of thinking might be, but this
casual assignment of blame is very dangerous. Now, when you say "Your

No. He is not in jail *officially* for killing Tony Franjieh, or
bombing a church. He was tried and convicted on charges of murdering
Danny Chamoun, and most of his family. The trial was a mockery of
justice, with lots of hearsay thrown in, and a presumption of guilt.
Like I said, I read the trial transcripts. As for the church bombing,
the authorities tried to pin that on him, but could not even fabricate
evidence. An objective court may be able to try him for other
atrocities, for instance the cold blooded murder of Lebanese army
soldiers and officers in Amcheet (lined up against a wall and savagely
executed), but doing so would mean having to bring all the other
murderers to justice.

Wrong again. Here's your entire post:

"Oh, BTW, JM, an Opinion cannot be Right of False, it's an O P I N I O
N not a F A C T"

Do you know what *splitting hairs" means?

> > If you open up a window, don't be surprised when the wind blows in.

Why don't you "get a clue".

> You keep on blowing your balsamic zephir into my
> replies even though after I ignored your replies and closed the window that
> faces your side...

I don't know what zephir is, but I do use balsamic vinegar in some of
my dishes.

Here's what you did: told me to get a clue (your very first post to me
in response to a innocuous post on my part about involving
Lebanese-American organizations), and followed up with outlandish
accusations about 10-15% of the funds only making it to intended
recipients (never mind that no programs, or dispersion methods have
been defined). I asked you to explain that, including an explanation
of why a total stranger would post such a rude reply to me (and
incidentally now asks to be treated like a lady), and to explain your
accusations about the Lebanese-American organizations.

What you call closing the window, I call refusal to admit to facts.
Although this is your style, it does set the tone for my replies.
Trying to turn it into a *gender* fight is not going to work and is
what those who have no facts or substance resort to as they attempt to
compensate for their inadequacy. If you haven't figured it out so far,
this group is gender-neutral. You are treated on the merits of your
posts, and I certainly respond based on the merits of the posts. If
you want to contribute, then post something that contributes to better
understanding of the various groups within Lebanon, or something that
might help people in Lebanon. This is a newsgroup, and anything that
contributes to improved morality, understanding, tolerance, education,
etc. is good. Taking one-sided, false snipes at one group does not.

Now, perhaps your point to ME is that inflaming religious feelings
does not serve Lebanon well. While in general I agree with this,
sticking heads in the sand is just as bad if not worse and the fire
will continue to burn under the ashes, waiting for the very first gust
to expose it. I don't know why ME uses "they" in his posts, but I do
not hesitate for one second (and the reason I jumped into the
conversation) to name these parties. They are Islamic extremists whose
presence in Lebanon is a threat to a secular and democratic Lebanon.
They have bombed Churches, attempted to bomb an International
Christian Conference in Balamand, and have their own definition of
Lebanon that is not inclusive of other Lebanese. Exposing this is part
of the education that the Lebanese must go through in their attempt to
find a formula for a peaceful existence, one based on true respect and
understanding.

BTW, both you and he are mixing metaphors. The *they* that's clear as
daylight in Hawaii, is selected government officials and their
propaganda tools who are on standby to accuse Israel, Zionism, the
Zionist lobby or the Jewish-controlled western media (or any
combination), of every single bad event around the world. A few years
back, a few of us signed a petition and sent it to the UN to look into
antiquities recovery methods in Beirut, and the first reaction from
the government was that this is the work of Zionists and agents of
Israel. The *they* that keeps bouncing back and forth here (from ME),
is the Islamic extremists who were committing crimes in Lebanon, and
working against a secular Lebanon, in the name of their twisted
extremism.

I will start when you start. You've chosen to "close the window", or
as I would describe it more accurately, running away from reality.

Splitting hairs again? This is a newsgroup, so get used to it. This is
not your personal mailing list. Get used to it. If you don't want to
get personal, then don't start it. What is it that's going on that my
simple mind can't grasp? Not that it effects me in any way, but do you
realize how insulting this sentence of yours is (given the context)?
Never mind that it is you who doesn't know what's going on, given that
all the so-called opinions or facts that you posted are false.

When you engage in mud-slinging, don't be shocked when you get dirty.
Smart-ass is not the "A" word (I don't know what the "A" word is),
it's an expression. Look it up in the dictionary (although the
dictionary's description tends to ramble a bit). I've been described
as a smart-ass at times and at times, I don't disagree. To quote you,
it's just a figure of speech.

So far your record is about zero to 4 or 5 on facts. Your claim of
"why do you hate me so much" does keeps that record very safe. Keep up
the good work. A favorite tactic used by those who have no facts, is
to deflect the topic. What's better than taking the conversation first
into a gender direction (claims to being a lady), then to something
totally off-base (hating someone), to defocus from the inadequacy of
the poster or the topic at hand. I tend to stick to the points, and
those are points that you have not addressed, so I will re-post them
for you:

1. Why would someone, such as yourself, who claims to be objective,
polite and lady-like, jump in and replies rudely to someone they have
never dialoged with, especially in response to such an innocuous post.

2. Who are you? And I say that in the nicest of ways, a brief
introduction before you jump in guns slinging might be in order. It's
of course completely up to you, but it's considered polite (most
definitely lady-like) to post an introduction. We've had encounters
with a Caroline in the past that were less than stellar, so you might
want to clear this up. Also, I've never understood why some SCL'ers
resort to aliases, unless someone can point to a case of
persecution-prosecution related to using one's real name on SCL.

3. Do you have any proof that Lebanese-American organizations only
divert 10-15% of the funds to the caused they were intended for, and
if so, who are these organizations.

This is really the core of the matter. If you stick to it, I will.

BTW, when you say something like "whoever killed *your* sheik", you're
showing your true colors. Freudian slips are often the best indication
of true feelings.

Caroline,
Your research is correct and that is what landed Geagea in jail. However,
many of those who are replying to you are trying to avoid the sense of irony
in your original post when you asked ME to define the 'they' in his
sentence.

Aoun was not elected president, and had no real legislative power for
the 6 months or so of vaccum in between Gemayel's departure (September
1988) and the election of Rene Mouawad (then assasination), and then
the election and assumption of power of Elias Hrawi in 1989.

Aoun led an uprising against the Syrians and the militias of Lebanon
(in a Quixotic way), and Gae@gae and the Assad regime cooperated on
defeating him in 1990 at steep cost in lives and mass murders of
Lebanese army soldiers and officers.

I still can't see what was wrong with my original question that fired so

Now you're telling me it was ironic, well, maybe it was, but whoever said

From your reply I can tell that you don't like Aoun or Geagea or the

eh ya reit, I'm trying to understand who are those people and what did they

what does Geagea has to do with Sabra isn't Sharon the one responsible for
Sabra and Chatila?
This is what I found when I was researching, and they say that they
"originally found that Sharon bore personal responsibility for the massacre,
leading him to resign - also named the Lebanese militia commander, Elie
Hobeika"

Also what does Elie Hobeika has to do with Sabra and Chatila? And why is
Elie Hobeika willing to testify in Belgium in the trial against Sharon? Was
he a witness or something?

so many questions come to me after your reply Hobeika, like what is it about
the Lebanese army barrack and Gana'em harb and Adma, what is this?

That is just more of your partisan bullshit. Sometimes it is difficult to
decide whether you are a myopic fool or whether you simply are without any
conscience at all.

I base that harsh statement on the fact that you recognize as "evidence"
only citations of fact that support your personal
viewpoint.

And that is what is wrong with your entire approach to discussion.

You appear to have no understanding of the way in which all of us select
from the many facts available on any controversial issue, only those which
bolster our positions.

Right now, you are so naive as to think that all one needs to do to win any
argument is to offer an number of actual, verifiable facts.

What you need to know is that is not the accuracy of your facts alone that
counts or even their number!, What matters is how you have gone about
selecting them from all of the facts available.

Partisans of every stripe pick and choose the points that they want to
argue, and studiously ignore those on which they feel vulnerable.

Just look at the way correspondents here deal with each other's posts.

It is common practice in political newsgroups for people to select one or
two points from a dozen or more that an opponent has presented, and hammer
away at them. In the process, ten or so cogent statements that were made
along with those one or two, simply disappear. They are deleted from the
response.

You - and a number of Islamists here - could grow up a little, acquire some
understanding and wisdom, if you'd acknowledge that we all tend to be highly
selective in our choice of facts. You need to learn that being able to
present several valid points on an issue doesn't necessarily make you right
about it generally.

I'm pointing out that the power vacuum with Aoun claiming to be Prime

he did not have clear control of the judiciary.

Raymond Edde was unrealistic and naive. His heart was in the right place,

SCL and newsgroups in general are not what they used to be any more: a
place to exchange views and opinions. It is too easy to say 'THEY" since it
does not take lots of thought to throw the word "THEY" around. So, you just
have to take it with a grain of salt :)
SCL and many other groups are a rough terrain. However, I hope you do not
get discouraged. You are apt to find couple of friends from this whole
exercise, and to find something positive. It is always good to emerge with
a positive experience out of things.

She/he asked the question allright, but before I had the chance to read the
question, It became a thread about bashing the LF, and falsely accusing them
of killing people in an Ehden church.

I do not see where I could "put" my input in this thread, since it has long
deviated from the original post.
As to your question 'who are they'? I know who 'they' are, but it would be
very very improper of me to tell you. This is up to the person you posed the

I rather use the term "melodrama" because a "game" suggests willing
participation which is not necessarily the case here. Here, there is the
main character, the skeptics, the defenders of the main character and the
attackers of the main characters. Many participants are not aware of the
role they are playing (playing in a theatric sense that is). Also, foul
play is not necessaily the case. This could very well be the mother of all
coincidences.

DRUM ROLL! DRUM ROLL PLEASE !!!
popommpampapapum...... :-))

This is the FINAL CHAPTER in the musalsal "SEX, LIES AND EMAILS"
and here comes what you were ALL waiting for.

Now that I know that i have succeeded to capture your attention
from each corner of the world, time has come to REVEAL to you the truth...
THE TRUE TRUTH~.

Are you ready Folks ? REALLY ??
Taib, laken YALLAAAAA! ;-))

Please, if your name happens to be xxxx, stop by here, go get
a tablet of Valium, wait till it begins to work, then come back.

My name is................ Caroline :-) Bwahahahaha...
My family name is..........Abu Loha :-)) heehahaheeh...
I was born, on a boring day of 1998, in the prolific imagination of
a "silent reader" that has been here for a while, playing it on ALL.

So, if you don't understand yet, I am VIRTUAL.
I was designed to be charming, articulate, open minded, witty and
intelligent.
I was meant from day one to make fall the masks here... specially one.
For this you can also consider me as a clever counter-attack over ANOTHER
virtual creature here, who has been polluting SCL with his continuous
waves of hatred : Golani.

I have been helped by another guy on the SCL, who long time ago discovered
who i was : a virtual creature.

The script that we have built, based on the real emails (which shall
remain private for now) that I have been receiving all this time, is
worth an award. This is for ages guys! Musalsal aTTwal min Soap Opera.

Now we know who is who and who's the friend of who.

The last episode, the one with the pregnancy,'Montparnasse Lilly'
and the false accusations, was specially meant to add some drama to the
atmosphere, and to gain the audience of xxxx, as I was cheating
on him in a long, very passionate, "LOVE" email dialog~...Bwahahahaha.
I will leave you with the last email that I have sent to "3azeezee xxx".
May the records of the SCL consider this as the last reasonable attempt
made on him to make him understand that he has been doing many things
wrong...

Anyway, Folks, I have only done my homework here : To add my 2 cents
in making this forum a better place. I will let you draw your own
conclusions and I leave you with the last email that "3azeezee xxx" has
been receiving from me. I hope you like it. I hope all this will cure his
hatred. If not, more will come.

BYE.
Caroline.

You are right. But then she did admit that she was young when she left
Lebanon and is repeating what she hears.
It is only normal to misunderstand or misinterpret things. Only patience and
a lot of "neutral" thinking will get us out of our mess.

LOL. You know what I meant. To some extent SCL'ers have become (I do not
know if they were always like that) very sceptical about newcomers. First
Zak and then Caroline, and God knows who next.
I remember when I first started posting here, I was "overrun" with what I
should do, who to talk to or avoid etc..Ya3ni I tried to remain as neutral
as possible, but somehow I was bewildered with all the labels I got :).

Well, I do not know how far Caroline's sense of humour goes, but I am not so
sure that this is a melodrama. She seems very real to me :).

Many on SCL fell for the virtual Caroline personality for three reasons. The
person who created virtual Caroline vouched for "her" authenticity. Second
"she" seemed honest. Third, women are a rare and endangered species on
SCL :-)

Bear in mind that many people on SCL interacted with virtual Caroline and
it wasn't just a juvenile game. The person who created virtual Caroline
later told me that he was conducting an experiment whose purpse is to
improve SCL.

Scepticism is a healthy thing. It is in the best Descartian tradition. :-)

That's how Virtual Caroline seemed to us then.

Again, I am not saying the new Caroline is false or fake. I am reminding
the readers of the past episode so as to not potentially repeat the same
past mistake. SCLers decide for themselves. There is enough similarity
for me to raise in my mind the specter of suspicion. There is no smoking

Vouched? LOL. How did he do that? Did he present a certificate of
authenticity? :)

Now, if I wanted to be a trouble-maker, I'd ask you if this Caroline seems
dishonest ;). But I am not going to do that.

This is why people should leave her alone.

Are you saying that people can only interact with a "virtual she"? :)

Now this person who invented the virtual Caroline should know wether this
one is virtual or real.. and one more thing; did SCL improve?

If that was improvement, I do not want to know how it was before ;) But I do

Her meaning new Caroline? Well, the verdict is still out on the gender. :-)
Without in-vitro experience, one can never tell :-)

None of the kind :-)

>Now this person who invented the virtual Caroline should know wether this

If he were responsible for "her" but a) the new Caroline could be real (meaning
her name is real life is really Caroline) and b) it could be created by
someone who knows the history of Virtual Caroline on SCL.

>and one more thing; did SCL improve?

It made SCL more suspicious of new polarizing characters. I believe SCL is
still suspicious of new polarizing characters. Is this an improvement?
Anyway I disagreed with the creator of Virtual Caroline and I told him so.
My beef with him is that he lied to me in private email to re-enforce the
Virtual Caroline personality and later claimed that that was done for a
"good" purpose.

>When I joined there was no Caroline and I had to duck more often than not.
>If that was improvement, I do not want to know how it was before ;)

SCL goes through ups and downs. By in large, people who've been long
enough on SCL know what to ignore. Like in real life, think of encounters
on SCL as drills. The more people go through the more hardened they become.

SCL is a theater where different people try different ideas and others
watch with certain element of voyeurism as encounters unfold. Of course I
am not talking about encounters of the reproductive kind but, one hopes, of
the productive kind.

And then the 'inventer' might sue Caroline for plaguerism ;)

I guess not. Virtual Caroline was before my time, and although I introduced
myself properly, I did not have it any easier. What I am really 'happy'
about is that the dubious characters of yore are gone, or have changed their
'cloaks' ;). The leftovers are away with a click. Civility has come over
SCL, finally:)
