It can work directly with most XP softwares even with Word or MSN
Messenger (just need to select the Lao font in the application first).
Note: Because Lao is not recognized byWindows -till Vista- you will
have to select the Lao font of your choice while using uniKode for Lao.
For example you may use the font "Lao unicode" provided with uniKode.
Does it mean with Windows Vista Lao will be recognized???
Have you already test Windows VISTA?
Yeap you're rigth ໄ has two pieces.
--> Could you tell me what is the missing character? (Unfortunately I'm
not Lao speaker...)
Concerning Vista and Lao:
I did not test it. But I read Vista will support Lao characters
(without any plugin).
Well, need confirmation from someone with Vista.
Thank you for your feedback.

Virtual Lao Keyboard
http://mog.software.free.fr/Lao
2 reasons why I am not intrigued to Virtual KB:
1.) It requires too much eyes contact with the Input and output screens.
2.) Laos language is as difficult as Thai language to write and to read.
Again the languages require heavy eyes concentration. They get me tired
easily.
About eyes concentration:
I agree it requires some concentration but after a while you get used
to.
It's much easier to my viewpoint than trying to type Lao with an
English keyboard (you would have to memorize a whole keyboard: a real
headache for me).
About language difficulty:
Nobody should overestimate the difficulty of a language.
On Earth all languages are Human creations. So any man in the street
with a little bit of determination should be able to learn whatever
foreign language he may needs.
In case of Thai and Lao scripts I would assert that they are not so
difficult.
Just try to figure out that more than 65 millions people already speak
at least one those two languages. ;-p
Anyway, I'm sure that a virtual Lao keyboard may be of real use to many
people:
